"Goode is another in a long line of completely irrelevant 3rd party candidates. Virgil makes some great points, and so does my neighbor and the girl from the local dog-walking service - none have the slightest chance at all of every being President."

Why? Simple. Because there are those who are more concerned with winning an election and voting for the one with their favorite letter next to the candidates' names than voting for principled candidates.

"Get this through your head folks, the only purpose Virgil Goode is serving in this election cycle is to divert votes away from the GOP..."

Exactly. My thick head understands this perfectly... but I thank you, mkjessup, for spelling it out for me.

“But, I guess the point is for Goode to destroy the conservative movement by dividing it.”

Far as I can tell, the number of conservatives running for POTUS is minimal and they are all third party. The two large parties have decided to jointly run a “Do you prefer salt or pepper with your liberalism” campaign.

Yesterday’s heavy-handed actions in the rules committee make it clear conservatives have little chance of a voice in the GOPe.

It was foolish. At least 20% of RINOmney’s potential vote was weak, but grudging. I actually saw a picture this morning from the convention vote where two delegates had real clothespins on their noses as they voted.

Now this.

RINOmney is doing fine at destroying the conservative movement without any help from Goode.

I’m not pretending to fight, I actually fight.
Pretending to vote is pretending to fight.

Exactly Bert. True THINKING conservatives understand that as unpleasant the choice may be, the only possibility of stopping 0bama in his tracks is by voting for Romney & Ryan. Romney was never our first choice, however if the choice is between a liberal Republican and a Communist Kenyan hell bent on destroying our Nation, that liberal Republican will get my vote. Once again, Donald Rumsfeld's impeccable logic applies, which is "you go to war with the army (or the candidate) you have, not the army you want, or the army you may have in the future".

These jokers talking up Virgil Goode, Gary Johnson, or any other fringe candidate are only fooling themselves, I'm not ecstatic about voting GOP, but I AM going to vote for the only shot we have at throwing that jug eared freak out of the White House.

In World War II, nobody in the West approved of, nor condoned Stalin's mode of rule, nobody endorsed his iron fist over the Russian people, but we needed his troops to fight the damn Nazis and push them back into Germany, and that is why we sent tons of lend-lease to do just that.

Now I think we can all agree, that Romney may be a liberal, but he is NO Communist. On the other hand, 0bama IS a Communist, if not by card carrying evidence, certainly by his words, deeds and actions.

We either close ranks, vote for Romney & Ryan and hopefully defeat 0bama, or we can write off the remnants of our Republic. It ain't rocket science.

IF ROMNEY LOSES
0BAMA WINS
and THAT means that America LOSES
You want that on your conscience preacher?

You imply that if Romney wins America wins... a false dichotomy, FRiend.

America wins if 0bama loses, and even if we differ on the definition of 'wins', at the minimum America will survive without the Magic Kenyan stinkin' up the White House.

Virgil Goode was unable to get enough votes to win reelection in his district, before beginning this Don Quixote run.

Exactly. My thick head understands this perfectly... but I thank you, mkjessup, for spelling it out for me.

And did your thick head also understand that if Goode diverts enough votes away from the GOP in Virginia, possibly giving the state to the 'Rats so far as electoral votes are concerned, that it means 0bama may win a close election?

We have one choice, and one choice only to hopefully defeat 0bama, and that is Romney & Ryan. The stakes are too high to throw away votes on fringe candidates that WILL NOT WIN.

Why would we go to war with troops who will turn around and shoot us once the enemy is engaged?

Some of you folks are refusing to learn from history.

Why would you vote for a self-avowed liberal like Romney?

Answer from various ABOs like soycd: We’re afraid Obama will turn America into a marxist country in the next four years.

So, you will give us one baby killer because you’re afraid of the other baby killer?

For this election coming up, that train has already left the station. - The bottom line goal is to get rid of 0bama, and if we fail to do that, his second term will see the destruction of what is left of America. - The GOP ticket of Romney & Ryan is the only vehicle for preventing that.

Because there are those who are more concerned with winning an election and voting for the one with their favorite letter next to the candidates' names than voting for principled candidates.

Yeah, you mean the overwhelming, vast majority of people do that. And you're right. I really wish that wasn't human nature, but it is. I'd love for 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc, party's to matter, but they don't in our system. You can try to swim against the tide and cast a useless write-in or 3rd party vote, but I am not going to try to fight human nature. It doesn't work and you'll never accomplish a thing. Want to blame someone, blame the founders. I personally wish we had a way to form coalition governments, but we don't. The system they set up, despite what many wished for, turned into a 2 party system immediately - and has stayed that way ever since. Blah, blah, blah, whigs, blah, blah... The GOP simply replaced the Whigs as the second stool of the 2 party system. And in 235 years something that significant happened once - and we still ended up with said 2 party system.

So yeah, you're choice is Romney/Ryan or Obama/Biden. Period. Stop trying to fool yourself into thinking it is anything other than that. General elections are NOT an affirmative endorsement of any candidate/ticket, they are simply a choice between the 2 options that have any chance to win.

IF either socialist wins America loses

a.) 0bama is a COMMUNIST, i.e, a socialist on steroids.

b.) Romney is a CAPITALIST albeit a big government capitalist, but he doesn't hate America, he definitely is NOT a Communist, and if you can't tell the difference between 0bama and Romney, you need to seriously give your head a shake.

*BUMP* to your well said words.

These people deluding themselves into voting for fringe candidates need only go back to 1968 which was the last time that a third party actually made an impact on an election when the American Independent Party ticket of Governor George Wallace of Alabama and retired USAF General Curtis LeMay carried five southern states for a total of 46 electoral votes.

No other third party has even come close to that in the 44 years since.

Certain factions of people try to convince us there is no difference in the won and Romney, hoping everyone will vote for the won again......NOT GOING TO HAPPEN
