KABUL, Afghanistan -- A gunman in an Afghan army uniform killed three Western troops Wednesday, the NATO force said. That brought the number of “insider” shooting deaths in August to 15, the most in a single month since the start of the war nearly 11 years ago.

My son is an infantry platoon leader in eastern Afghanistan. He has 43 men and is responsible for 25 sq miles. He is basically the sheriff of that district.
His policy is that Afghans that are assigned to his rifle squads, are not allowed to have live rounds.
If they get into a firefight, mags will be allotted to them by the respective squad leaders, only after they have advanced forward of the US troops.
That may not be the official ROEs, but they are HIS ROEs.
He says he’ll “shoot any bastard that points his weapon anywhere but down range in a NY minute”. And has told his Squad leaders to do the same.
I doubt that global police work and police states are the answer to fascism. Sooner or later, we’ll be forced to fight a war instead. The following is what was done in WWII more effectively and with much less time (and probably, less in human costs in the long run). War is difficult and very sad, but sometimes, it can’t be avoided.
