Yahoo news director David Chalian was fired today after he was caught making an offensive comment on an open mic. Chalian was caught saying of the RNC convention, which took place as hurricane Issac hit New Orleans, "They are happy to have a party with black people drowning."

Perusing Chalian's biography, I found this: "As part of the team that traveled to Alaska to produce Sarah Palin's first television interview as the GOP vice presidential nominee (with ABC News' Charlie Gibson), Chalian received an Emmy Award nomination."
This is the infamous gotcha interview in which Gibson stared down his reading glasses at Palin and demanded a definition of the Bush doctrine. It's also the interview in which Gibson confronted Palin with a partial quote and, when she claimed it wasn't accurate, snapped, "Exact words."
GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, “Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God.” Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don’t know if that was my exact quote.

IIRC, Governor Palin wanted to make the rounds on talk radio soon after the convention but the “media consultants” kept her holstered until this interview. Then they set her up for 9 hours of “conversation” with the Perky One, the majority of which wound up on the cutting room floor.
These inside-the-beltway types sure know what they’re doing. Right?

Yeah I heard about this, not a shock, and Sarah kicked Gibson’s ass in that interview too..even though Gibson tried so hard to screw her over
They didn’t ruin her, she is more powerful and stronger than EVER. The more the left tries to destroy her the stronger she gets
Gibson came off in that interview as a petulant, condescending jackass.

I can still see in my mind, Gibson looking down through his lowered spectacles at Sarah. I seethed at this man playing the old venerable statesman of the media. I will not repeat my epithets here. I will though, slightly adjust an old adage, to whit .
She who laughs last, laughs the longest. (Hope it is Sarah).
