'Borrowed, Spent, and Wasted': Rock Star Ryan Hammers Obama's Record (Transcript)

Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney’s running mate, was treated as a rock star tonight at the Republican National Convention – and for good reason.

His soft-spoken manner played intimately, even in an arena of 22,000. When protesters began chanting against Ryan, the crowd drowned them out with thunderous applause. Ryan brought fire to a campaign lacking in it – and he also brought credibility on serious issues.

Democrats will have a significant problem painting Ryan as unsympathetic or insincere. Tonight showed why.

Loved his speech! Really took obama to task! One thing i noticed was that he kept clearing his throat, which was kinda distracting. Anyone else notice that? I'm sure its nerve-wracking as hell being up there tho.

Ryan was magnificent. Not since Ronald Reagan have we seen a speech like that one.

He managed to poke fun at Romney in the same way that one of his sons might. Schieffer got that right. Romney likes Ryan. He warms up when he is around the congressman.

Ryan passed the test with flying colors. He gave a well-paced, articulate speech. It touched all the right chords and was delivered like a pro. He is a man to be taken seriously.

Absolutely. This is the first time I've really seen him speak. He is a leader.

A Midwestern middle class guy speaking to the middle class which was hurting before Barry took office, but is really hurting now.

The right message from a credible messenger who appears to be fairly honest and can be trusted which is saying something for anyone of either party who has spent more than a decade in the know-nothing, do-nothing legislative branch in D C.

Mittens speaks tommorrow what will be his message? Who will he be speaking to? Ryan can credibly attack Obamacare and can be trusted when he says that he wants to abolish it.

Mittens will have trouble connecting with the middle class on the repeal of Obamacare when his term as a blue state governor of the bluest state in the union was defined by Obamacare when Barry was just a typical Cook County machine politician learning how to game the social welfare state to gain political power and win elections.

I like this one too, and I may be slightly paraphrasing: Obama put his promises on the record and now he says that’s his record.

I was wondering because my son is his age and that’s his playlist too.

One of my favorite lines: “College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life.”

Compounded by the accrued debt related to student loans...

Joe Biden is probably already looking for an excuse NOT to debate Ryan in the upcoming scheduled Veep debate.

This is the first time I've really seen him speak

The first time I became aware of Ryan was during the Republican Healthcare Summit at the WH with Obama. Ryan took it to the document, stating facts and figures. Obama was so irritated that he middle-fingered a couple of times. Ryan was impressive then.

I hoped he would jump into the primaries fray.

He captivated the crowd tonight. Even the commentators on CNN were generally agreeable that he gave an excellent speech.

Would have been a perfect moment for Ryan to say something like, “just a moment folks, while they haul out the trash”.

Can someone post a copy of Code Pink’s press releases from the last 4 years calling for Obama’s impeachment for fighting wars in Iraq and Afghan.
