Judge to Toss Out Changes in Florida Voter Registration
New York Times ^ | August 29, 2012 | By LIZETTE ALVAREZ

MIAMI — A federal judge said on Wednesday that he planned to block provisions of a Florida measure that made it harder for organizations to register voters in the state.

The measure, part of a broad and contentious 2011 election law in Florida, had a serious impact on third-party voter groups, like the League of Women Voters and Rock the Vote, which filed the suit along with the Florida Public Interest Research Group Education Fund. The groups asserted that the new requirements were onerous and made volunteers vulnerable to fines and even felony charges.

Voter registration, particularly among Democratic voters, declined significantly in the past year. The Florida Times-Union reported this week that the number of registered Democrats had increased by only 11,365 from July 1, 2011, to Aug. 1, 2012, a sharply lower figure than in the same periods during the past two presidential races. In 2004, nearly 159,000 new Democrats were registered in that period. In 2008, the number was nearly 260,000. . .

Then let’s cut out the volunteers; if they can’t be charged with fraud for knowingly signing up ineligible voters, we don’t need them in the process. Taxpayers in each county pay for an office where registration should take place unless one is too ill to leave one’s residence. Volunteers can help drive people to the office, but should not be filling out official paperwork.

We must not disenfranchise the Zombo-American voters. Sure, they have a different diet than ours, brains and human flesh and all, and sure they are not very articulate. But they feel their needs no less than we feel ours, and they shouldn’t be denied the right to have their votes counted just because they’ve been dead for a few decades.

The judge had suspended the restrictions on May 31, calling them “harsh and impractical” and “burdensome.”

More illegal, judicial law making. Add that to administrative law making . . . . why have legislatures at all? There is no "right" to third party voter registration, so how can there be a violation when the time frame for submission is shortened? The reason for two days v. ten was that leftists groups had been coordinating and dropping more new registrants on county supervisors of elections than they could possibly examine for duplication and fraud.

Newt was right. A half dozen or so impeachment scalps a year will send the right message to these usurpers.

the feds and the courts need a complete overall .

It’s always a fed judge when the left wants to get laws blocked or laws changed etc.

Far too many activist judges in the fed courts today and Newt was right, a clean out needs to be done

Man, the government really wants to make it hard to clean house on elections in this country...

I guess they are really scared we’ll throw every frappin’ one of those idiots out on their arses...

Not sure what they are doing will stop that though...

Wonder if they’ll take the hint in any event...

They are lining up Lib judges to toss all the voter ID laws within a week of the election so that we won’t have any time to react.

nah, lets get our own organizations to make a massive effort to register conservative voters

...and it should be easier for our side: we can do registration rallies in business where people actually have jobs.

I’m not sure about every election but certainly once every four years would not be bad. Purge all voters from the rolls as of Feb 15th the year following a Presidential election cycle.

Then they won’t be out shopping when an election official stops by to verify their eligibility or lack thereof.
