Romney: ‘I’m in favor of legal abortion for health and life of mother,’ rape, incest

MICHIGAN, August 28, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney told an interviewer this week that he supports legal abortion in cases that threaten either life or health of mother, as well as rape and incest.

The former Massachusetts governor emphasized his differences with the GOP platform position on abortion, which embraces a pro-life position without exceptions, during a CBS interview at a campaign stop in Michigan.

“The platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?” asked CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley.

“No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother,” said Romney.

The candidate, expected to receive the Republican nomination on Thursday, said the abortion issue does not belong in the political arena and is a question for the courts: “But recognize, this is a decision that will be made by the Supreme Court. The Democrats try and make this a political issue every four years, but this is a matter in the courts. It’s been settled for some time in the courts.”

“I’ve come down on the side of life. I respect people who have a different point of view. ... But this issue of life is an important one. And we have different views on this and people should consider them,” he said.

If someone honestly cannot discern the vast difference between advocating unrestricted access to abortion and advocating for access to abortion only the cases of rape, incest and life of the mother, there is no point even having the discussion with them.

I absolutely loath Romney and his twin bother Obama. They both are immoral creatures. Romney and Obama both love killing babies. I am sick to my stomach over this. It is so hard to decide to vote for Romney the most liberal candidate in the history of the Republican Party. This is atrocious. He is lucky Ryan is on the ticket, but now I wish Ryan would have said no and run himself in 2016 with the stench of revolting Romney. I tried to talk myself into voting for Romney and yesterday I pretty much did convince myself but today....he is clearly not after my vote.

Dear Romney:

In the words of Maxwell Smart, “Missed it by that much.”

Learn to read and perhaps we can have that discussion. That isn't what Romney is advocating. He is also inserting "health of the mother", which is the liberal escape hatch for unlimited abortion.

Why make exception for rape and incest? Because the pregnant woman does not like somebody she did not love’s child inside her? Turning rape and incest in murder is NOT justifiable. It is pure murder. Murder for convenience, similar to aborting for recreation.

There should be no exception for abortion. Abortion is premeditated murder, which should be a crime punishable by death.

Im against abortion but at this moment, forgive me for putting the SURVIVAL OF OUR NATION ahead of abortion. Or O’socialist being able to appoint the next 3 supreme court justices. Or O’socialist handing over more of our sovereignty over to the UN. Forgive me, abortion zealots, for putting those things in front of the abortion issue.

Obama is in favor of killing the baby if it survives the abortion. Obama’s science adviser says this should be allowed up to three years after the birth. Obama told a woman that her mother needed to take a pain pill and die because a pacemaker would not be worth the cost.

Romney clearly recognizes that there are two lives involved in a pregnancy. He is clear that taxpayers should not pay for any abortion.

This is a question of whether you should prosecute the mother and the doctor if the mother makes the decision to kill the baby in these situations. Romney thinks you shouldn’t.

As we learned in “Heaven is Real”, all miscarriages and aborted babies are in Heaven because God loves them all. Where the mother who kills one of God’s children goes is up to Him.

You put whatever in front of whatever issue. Excuse the rest of us who have our opinion on what is the most important issue facing humanity — life of an innocent is worth preserving. Cold blooded murder of defenseless babies is the most heinous crime one can do, regardless of whether the perpretrator is a rape victim or an incest victim.

Then Romney is where MOST folks in the US are. There are many who call themselves pro-life, but who support abortion in what they perceive as the 'hard cases'. They do NOT support abortion for convenience, sex selection, etc, so they still consider themselves pro-life.

I'm not gonna put these people down, but if I'm in discussion with them, I will gently try to have them see that being against abortion for any reason, isn't an anti-woman notion, it's a pro-baby thing.

Why make exception for rape and incest?

Because I'm fundamentally against making a 12 year old carry daddy's baby to term. If you don't get it, fine. You don't have to.

Romney will sacrifice 1 to save 9. Obama will not only kill all 10, he'll go out and find an 11th.

0 will never do a thing to actually compromise on the issue, despite what he says. With Romney, at least we have a chance of getting justices that might help the situation.

That is an exception so wide and so ill-defined that even the ABOs are going to have to admit that Romney has just effectively nullified his “pro-life” stance. I guess that we can now understand why RomneyCare pays for abortions.

Let the Liberals bring this position to the table!

There is no upside for conservatives to present this as a compromise position.

Tell the liars, that if THIS is the basis for their support for abortion, THEY should be the ones presenting the limiting legislation!

Do NOT set yourself up by answering their questions about your level of “reasonableness”!

The fact is, THEY are “extreme” and will never present such limitations.

Romney may be, however Oboma, nancy, harry and most other dems voted for PBA. That is so despeciable it makes me cringe thinking back to the day they all argued in Congress and the Senate about PBA. The life forces were very graphic in that the baby was a baby not a fetus and those despicable SOB’s still smiled and voted for death.

Pure evil

Once you throw “health” in there, you’re basically pro-abortion because health can mean anything. Mental health problems like stress, anxiety, depression or addiction is enough to kill the baby.

Do you have a link to HWs 1980s abortion position, and 1988?
