Romney: ‘I’m in favor of legal abortion for health and life of mother,’ rape, incest

MICHIGAN, August 28, 2012 (LifeSiteNews.com) - GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney told an interviewer this week that he supports legal abortion in cases that threaten either life or health of mother, as well as rape and incest.

The former Massachusetts governor emphasized his differences with the GOP platform position on abortion, which embraces a pro-life position without exceptions, during a CBS interview at a campaign stop in Michigan.

“The platform as written at this convention for the Republicans does not allow for exceptions on abortion with regard to the health of the mother or rape or incest. Is that where you are?” asked CBS Evening News anchor Scott Pelley.

“No. My position has been clear throughout this campaign. I’m in favor of abortion being legal in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother,” said Romney.

The candidate, expected to receive the Republican nomination on Thursday, said the abortion issue does not belong in the political arena and is a question for the courts: “But recognize, this is a decision that will be made by the Supreme Court. The Democrats try and make this a political issue every four years, but this is a matter in the courts. It’s been settled for some time in the courts.”

“I’ve come down on the side of life. I respect people who have a different point of view. ... But this issue of life is an important one. And we have different views on this and people should consider them,” he said.

Romney is what is commonly referred to as a Moderate, which means he straddles both sides of the line and stands for very little.

That being said, there is no choice as I see it..we have to get Obama out of the White House. Romney is at this point the lesser of two evils.

If we keep voting for the lesser of two evils, then evil will never leave the White Hut. We will never see any quality candidates because the party leaders know we will vote for someone as we prefer a slow death.

Romney is abortion for rape, incest, and health of mother.
Obama is abortion for rape, incest, health, and convenience of mother.

Please tell me how Romney is not Obama-lite?

I don’t care about Romney’s position on abortion, right now. All I care about is getting Obama out of office and the economy back on track. Social issues will have to be ironed out later. There is no way that social issues will ever be ironed out if Obama is re-elected.

So, save it for later, or we may find ourselves having to fight the UN over social issues. That is the Progressive goal. They even have a One World Religion all designed and ready to go. How’re you going to like that?

“...for the health of the mother...”

That effectively means unrestricted abortion. “health” is such a nebulous term.

If I have a baby, my hair will fall out.

If I have a baby, I will get depressed.

If I have a baby, I will gain weight.

If I have a baby, I won’t be able to sleep.

If I have a baby, I might get a headache.

If I have a baby, I could get a hangnail.

The bottom line is that Romney is Pro Baby Butchering.

This is identical to what GHW Bush said in the 80’s. It was lilly livered then and it still is today. But given the choice of this “position” and one where abortion is actually encouraged anytime day or night, I’ll take the “straddler”.

I'm voting for Romney because I want to see Progressive Zombie heads explode when Obama loses. I need a little joy in my life.

Please tell me how Romney is not Obama-lite?

Obama is in favor of killing not only the unborn, but newly born.

Essentially, they both see nothing wrong with the senseless, bloody slaughter of 3,300 Americans every day . . . but this old canard of "health and life of mother, rape and incest" is inexcusable. In each of those cases, a perfectly innocent and defenseless human being is ruthlessly slaughtered and the "perp" goes free including the "mother" who arranged for the slaughter.

Murder, is murder, is murder. I was never in favor of Romney being our nominee since he's a 100% bleeding heart liberal. Once again, it'll be with my nose pinched that I vote in November. But anything to get that big eared illegal alien out of our White House.

“I don’t care about Romney’s position on abortion, right now.”

While you may not care about Romney’s position on abortion, I bet the babies that are sucked out of their mommy’s wombs with a vacuum do have opinions on Romney’s view on Baby Killing.

If the option is to support banning 99% of abortions with a reasonable chance of success, or to insist upon banning 100% of abortions with almost no chance of success, I know what the path to take in a republic is.

Romney cannot do anything about those babies, anyway, nothing.

“I’m voting for Romney because I want to see Progressive Zombie heads explode when Obama loses.”

Under Romney, heads will explode and they will not be the heads of progressives, but the heads of babies as their mommies order abortionists to pierce their baby’s heads with a sharp object and vacuum him or her out of her womb.

Ok, so the choice is exploding baby heads only vs. baby & progressive heads. I’m voting to explode more heads.

nonsporting makes the key point. “Health of the mother” is a phrase used to allow unlimited abortion.

Romney is also pro-homosexual agenda.

The Republican Party has nominated someone who holds views that are the polar opposite of mine on issues that are most important to me. Now the Republican Party wants me to vote for him.

Not going to happen.

Once you have someone as liberal as Romney as the nominee, the “fear factor” of “not voting for our guy allows theirs to win” just doesn’t hold the same fear that it once did in the past.

A President Romney could promote the Culture of Life and encourage women not to murder their babies.

A President Romney could appoint Pro Life judges.

A President Romney may be able to execute executive orders limiting abortion.

Instead, a President Romney will condone Millions of Babies being Murdered.

With Romney in office, progressives will still have their voice in the WH. Their heads will remain intact, sorry about taking away that joy from you.

“Romney cannot do anything about those babies, anyway, nothing.”

But he “could” do something about the babies in the future. He will not do anything to save babies. Anyone who is excited that Obama will be “replaced” will be in for rude awakening. Obama’s body might be replaced post November, but not his ideology.

Health of the mother is a pure cop out.

Not surprised.

He was full blown pro abortion before he geared up to run for President

What about Reagan? Do you know his position? (I honestly don’t know if he ever addressed it)
