Police food donation has protesters eating their words (Tampa)

It was a truce of sorts, delivered between two slices of bread.

Food: from Tampa police officers to hungry protesters camping out at Romneyville, the unofficial headquarters of the many activists who gathered to protest the Republican National Convention this week.

"I give them the most props of any police agency we've seen," said 28-year-old Brendan Hunt of Occupy Wall Street.

The boxed lunches — sandwiches, fruit and ice cold bottled water — came after police heard that protesters were getting low on provisions. It didn't help that the big blue school bus-turned-kitchen that had been parked at Romneyville all week left for New Orleans this morning, to help hungry people there.

So, in their telltale khaki, the Tampa officers who have had several tense moments with protesters during the week showed up to help.

I guess there aren't many progressive organizations or foundations that could possibly pay to feed the protesters. /s

Must be nice to be able to travel around the country, protesting people that believe differently than you, without having to worry about a job, or where you’ll get your next meal.

if you think the Police will get any credit for that, forget it. the protesters would much rather get beat up for TV.

I would be sorely tempted to spike a few of the meals with Ex-Lax.

Same thing as woodstock.. all that anti-war, anti-government nonsense, and who was out there feeding and keeping the peace for those bunch of idiots? The national guard etc.

Leftists are just idiots, they literally have had their intellect skewed to a point of uselessness.

Having no sense of history they likely had no idea that cops and the National Guard came to the rescue at Woodstock when they ran out of food and both of the toilets overflowed.

I’m leaning..., useless idiots. I know they serve a purpose for the Left, but they are a cancer on society. These folks will likely never be self-sustaining.

Democrat politicians and other socialists love using taxpayer money to show how compassionate they are.

The mayor of Tampa spent $57,000 to rent an empty lot for the protesters to set up camp.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn (D) Spent $57,000 in taxpayer money to rent an empty lot for protesters to “occupy” 24/7

No problem - they can just borrow more.

If you can’t beat on them, can’t join them, feed them. Just know that after doing it one time, they will be expecting their next meal, and the next, and the next. It’s their right.

Apparently, the chief is a Democrat. Guess they just wanted to save time having to book the protesters, plus, they could actually be on the protestors side. I would be more impressed if it had been a Republican chief.

So, just so I understand this correctly: It’s called Romneyville even though the number of unemployed and homeless under Obama’s administration have skyrocketed?

Standards: If it weren’t for double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.

Wouldn't it be a wonderful being a member of the Tampa police department today? Wouldn't it just a wonderful thing being complimented by a smelly, foul-breathed female political protester?

Works for me. Why would the pigs gave them anything? Do you suppose their UNION had anything to do with them helping the protestors?
