Doc S is pretty sour. I think he prefers the old stories and maybe writing “Train Tracks” kinda depressed him.

RE: what a miserable old bastard he is

It's what he does from time to time. He just said that he's trying to "goad them into battle"

Sometimes he does stuff similar to this and attacks conservatives to "prove" he's independent..

the worst was the time he had an editor from a popular conservative magazine as a guest and just attacked him unmercifully for the magazine's accusation that Larry Lawrence, a major donor to President Clinton, did not qualify to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

The magazine was the first to expose the travesty and was catching hell in the MSM and Savage sided with the MSM -- the magazine was absolutely correct and within a couple of weeks the Clinton Administration and the MSM could no long contain the scandal.

The man's body was removed from Arlington National Cemetery.

Here is a transcript of Ryan’s speech, via Breitbart:

I am posting once again.. I think that it is germane to what Savage is talking about.

The Demobrat Party kidnapped the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party!

I like to quote something from Lincoln.. updated to address these aged 1960s Marxist-Alinsky campus psycho spoiled brats and their bratty ideological issue.

We initiated a policy to tolerate the Marxist-Alinsky radicals and let them rant; not only has it not ceased but was constantly augmented by decades of infiltration and indoctrination. We now have two Americas. In my opinion, it will not cease until a crisis shall have been reached and passed. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half statist and half free; I do not expect the house to fall; but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing, or all the other.

(Spoiled brats do not have to be rich kids.. if not spawned by psychological factors or upbringing they're trained spoiled brats of the "Rules For Spoiled Brats" variety.)

I wonder why Savage can’t direct some of the vitriol toward the uniformed field representatives of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Community Relations Service (CRS) there at the convention assisting Occupy/anarchist activists . . . .

Did you see this ? From Romney’s speech tonight :

” I wish President Obama had succeeded because I want America to succeed. But his promises gave way to disappointment and division. This isn’t something we have to accept. Now is the moment when we CAN do something. With your help we will do something. “

Bleh !

I’m at the breaking point with Savage’s negativism. Tearing apart convention speeches and grumbling for two hours is easy radio. Requires minimal show prep, and doesn’t bring much to the table of ideas.

And Barry Goldwater’s been off the radar for forty five years. Time to look through the windshield instead of the rear view mirror Mike, you might rear end somebody.

Ryan’s speech had several memorable lines. I only wish the one about playlists referenced American bands, e.g., replace Zeppelin with ZZ Top.

As he complained repeatedly that no politician has used his lines, I thought of one. None other than Obama has mocked we’ve already tried that “Trickle Down Fairy Dust.”

“The same speechwriter who crafted Palin’s national debut address to the 2008 convention, Matthew Scully, polished Ryan’s words.” says a news item.

RE: [Savage] complained repeatedly that no politician has used his lines

Savage opened with his "the last gasp of white America" -- looks like he is using a politician line.. Torres may have represented Mexico City. I don't remember much about him beyond this.

I posted this above.. "Prop 187 (1994) was 'the last gasp of white America in California.' - Art Torres, Chairman of the California Democratic Party."

Goading works with some people, and causes others to ignore the advice no matter how good.

I prefer the sweet-and-sour approach. Yes, tell them what they're doing wrong. And also tell them what they're doing right so they repeat it.

Since he speaks so often about his father's immigrant past, why not extend mutual praise to the governor of New Mexico? Her parents were immigrants, they started a small business, and she was their first employee proudly carrying a .357 Magnum. (She didn't even have to say 2nd Amendment.)

Isn't that the very imagery he says he thinks in, the vivid kind that can stick in others minds when they're inside the voting booth?

All I can say about today is..

Throughout the 1990s when I caught every minute of his KSFO 1600 - 1900 show I always especially looked forward to the Monday show. :)
