President Felipe Calderón, speaking Tuesday at a security forum attended by the American ambassador, Anthony Wayne, promised a thorough investigation.

“Be it from negligence, lack of training, lack of trust, complicity, these acts cannot be permitted and they are being investigated absolutely rigorously,” Mr. Calderón said. (((When Mexico has a problem note the different tone: The Mexican government is shocked and outraged by the killings of two nationals by the U.S. border patrol," Calderon said in a statement. "We are concerned by the surge of violence against Mexicans along with other recent anti-immigrant and anti-Mexican demonstrations in the United States."

Calderon demanded an unbiased and objective probe into both killings and said guilty parties should be punished.)))

It doesn’t say which cartel they were aiding.

A lot of people owe me an apology......but hey...maybe this will open some eyes around here.

Fast and Furious could not have happened without the knowledge of the CIA.

Another waste of US resources. The Mexican drug war is another Vietnam, where there is no way of knowing who your enemy is. Just seal the border.

Send more, along with DEA agents and light combat soldiers to back them up.

Can there be organized crime without organized complicity on the part of the government? I am not just talking about the government of Mexico but of the United States as well. How many people are being paid to look the other way? Remember Bill Clinton and Mena?

and therein is the problem.

“So at this point, we can reasonably assume that the two Americans in the Toyota were indeed CIA agents or trainers or employees of some sort. We can also reasonably assume that the federal police who shot them were not exactly out in Tres Marías “To Protect and Serve” Friday morning. The last big question that remains unanswered is whether or not the men were intentionally targeted because they were CIA, or American, or just traveling in a highly desirable hard car. Personally, if I want to steal a car for personal use, I’m not going to shoot it 30 times. However, if I want to kill someone IN the car and I know it’s armored, I’m going to try to breach the armor by concentrating all my fire in one spot - which is exactly what the shooters did, and exactly how Garner and Boss (cover names, it seems) got shot. I guarantee you, this is not standard FP protocol for dealing with ANY suspect who is unarmed and not actively posing a threat to officers. Stay tuned...”

Clean out these sewers like Chicago and much of this crime wave with stop. Too many people are being paid off in the US not just in Mexico.

So, siding with the cartel, we have Mexico’s federal police and Obama’s Justice Department. Fighting the cartel we have CIA, the US military, and Mexico’s Marines.

This is turning into a two-country civil war.

No, that isn't what is happening.

Let me remind everyone that there was a CIA rendition plane - sold twice right before it was forced to land - with over 6000 pounds of SINALOA cocaine. The man who forced it to land ended up dead.

The plane had not been remarked at all.

“It doesn’t say which cartel they were aiding.”

Well since the US trained the zetas I would imagine that they didn’t want the US training any more potential competition.

We should have listened to Milton Friedman in 1990 instead of Bill Bennett.

This story is a near repeat of the attack on the ATF agents in Mexico, which happened right after they had started trying to trace some F&F weapons they found at crime scenes. So, if it is the same MO, is it not unreasonable to wonder whether FP agents in the employ of the cartels were involved in that assassination as well?

They would have been able to find out where the ATF agents would be, so they could waylay them. Also, it might help to explain why the surviving ATF agent apparently unlocked the armored vehicle doors and/or rolled down the window, allowing the assassins access to the vehicle, if he knew one or more of the attackers.

Interesting synopsis of various reports

http://www.emptywheel.net/2012/08/29/did-the-cia-agents-in-mexico-shoot-at-their-pursuers/

“Also note, the same article says that when the uniformed police showed up one of the agents yelled out that they were diplomats traveling with a Navy guy, which is what stopped the shooting. Uh, during a gun battle? Yelled? And in what language, given that the Navy captain was purportedly their translator (even the one attached to the US embassy in Mexico)? Did he open the door to yell?”

No, that isn't what is happening.

Of course, I'm being glib. But being glib, I'm not sure how wrong I am... But I've gone back and read your links; thanks for posting them.

Let me remind everyone that there was a CIA rendition plane - sold twice right before it was forced to land - with over 6000 pounds of SINALOA cocaine. The man who forced it to land ended up dead.

Thanks, I found the articles referencing the above. So, I'm gathering that at least part of our government has sided with Guzman's cartel. Have we figured out that this is where Fast and Furious weaponry went?

Illegality creates obscene profits that finance the murderous tactics of the drug lords; illegality leads to the corruption of law enforcement officials; illegality monopolizes the efforts of honest law forces so that they are starved for resources to fight the simpler crimes of robbery, theft and assault.

Drugs are a tragedy for addicts. But criminalizing their use converts that tragedy into a disaster for society, for users and non-users alike.

It's like he had a crystal ball.
