Perversely, I believe that the media will say that Joe Biden wins the VP debate.
Here’s why. The debate game is a game of expectations. They will build up Ryan’s debate skills and command of facts and figures, so as to say that Joe Biden has a very tough battle to debate Ryan. Then, the liberal media types, in their judgement, will say that Biden performed better than expected, and matched Ryan point for point, or some such drivel.
Add it all up, and Joe Biden will at worst battle to a draw with Ryan in debate, or at best, will be said to have won the debate by the “impartial judges” in the MSM.
Interesting points. I see another angle with similar results. Biden has specific advantages over Ryan: his lengthy time in Congress and particularly, his lengthy tenure on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, give him an edge. I’ll make a prediction that the lefty “moderators” will ask some real arcane questions that Biden will be more prepared to answer than Ryan and Biden, being Biden will make a showy answer, dropping names of obscure ministers he’s personal friends with, etc. The same applies to Biden’s experience on the Judiciary Committee: they’ll ask questions tailored to Biden’s experience and knowledge of the nominating process, and specific issues relating to the Justice department operations, etc.
