Chick-fil-A CEO Dan Cathy meets with college leaders about LGBT issues

With Chick-fil-A fights breaking out on campuses across the country, including several in North Texas, company CEO Dan Cathy reportedly met with college leaders to discuss LGBT issues in Atlanta on Thursday.

It was Cathy whose anti-gay comments earlier this summer sparked the protest.

The details of Thursday’s meeting were brief and given by an unnamed source, but centered around “diversity, hospitality, and the opportunity to find common ground,” according to the source.

Cathy is trying to repair relationships with colleges in an effort to further expansion plans for more on-campus locations across the country, many at large schools.

The University of North Texas was the first of five area colleges to start a petition calling for the university to remove the restaurant from its student union. UTA later followed and members of UTA’s GSA are preparing to present the petition and a resolution to school officials.

SMU officials have already said they would not remove the restaurant from its campus. Kim Schroder, UNT’s associate director of retail dining services, told its student newspaper that the on-campus location wasn’t going anywhere soon.

Schroder said the petitions from a UNT student and a separate one created by an alumnus have not affected business, and the university’s five-year contract with the company would make removing it soon impossible.

Count me in with the “bad move by Cathy” crowd. He should know by now that those who reject God’s Word have no moral incentive to deal honestly with those who accept it.

“opportunity to find common ground”

How about the freedom to have his own personal opinion?

Starting immediately after the "winter break" all Chik-fil-A sandwiches will be served only on toast, by wait-persons dressed as lumber jacks, ballerinas, or characters from Peter Pan, according to their own preference.

In addition, ten percent of profits will be donated to a "charity" that you don't want to know about and Mr. Cathy will write a 5000 word essay on the historic social contributions of the Village People.

Meanwhile, the guy who spray painted "tastes like hate" on a So Cal Chik-fil-A will not be charged...

I’m going to guess that CFA will be told their problems will go away if they make large donations to Obama and various LGBT groups.

Right the thing I liked about the Aug 1 CFA Appreciation day was the drawing of a bold line between “us” and “them” - common ground just means giving in to all their dorky agenda items.

and in addition, if they also promise (as the gay lawsuit against Chick fil A in Illinois stated) to have mandatory diversity training.

If he goes, they will claim he said things he never said.

It’s a trap.

He spoke his opinion on an obscure radio show, and his personal religious views were used to put his company into a media circus. He never wanted to be a public spokesman for marriage, or to have his chicken sandwich shop attract the undying hatred of the gay lobby. He immediately put out a functional apology on the CFA Facebook page, but the whole thing spun out of his control by that point. Now he is trying to make peace with the homosexual activists, and knowing them, it is going to cost him.

“anti-gay”? He never said anything derogatory about gays. All he said he believed in traditional marriage.

The “Dallas Voice” has been strictly a gay supporting (now LGBT) rag for years in Dallas.

Like most liberals, they will spin everything said or printed or on the internet in a way to support their views.

Aside... UNT (formerly NTSU) is where I earned by BBA. I’m glad to see they are telling the gay students NO regarding kicking CFA off campus. SMU is a Christian school, as is TCU, so they believe in traditional marriage.

I hope he’s not going the way of that stupid a-hole Justice John Roberts...fearing the press.

nothing he can say will appease them.

Agreed. He shouldn't even try.
