Washington, D.C. -- Senator Reid released the following statement on the visit by Governor Mitt Romney to survey the damage from Hurricane Isaac in Louisiana:
Under a Romney-Ryan administration, we would not have been prepared to respond to Hurricane Isaac. If Paul Ryan and his fellow House Republicans had succeeded in blocking disaster relief last fall, there would have been no aid for the victims of Isaac today. And Paul Ryans budget would gut disaster funding, making it much harder to get aid to our fellow Americans in their time of need.
It is the height of hypocrisy for Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan to make a pretense of showing sympathy for the victims of Hurricane Isaac when their policies would leave those affected by this disaster stranded and on their own.
This is yet another example of Mitt Romneys extreme right wing agenda, which asks middle class families to sacrifice in order to protect millionaires and billionaires from paying their fair share.
Harry, Go * yourself!
The day Harry Reid utters a helpful, truthful word will be the same day that half the state of Nevada is inundated with floodwaters.
While REID had not submitted a Budget as Majority Leader
I’m old and likely senile but I cannot remember anything close to the open and visceral hatred of this election.
"Obama hates black people"
It is time for Romney to start visiting foreign powers. That is what Nancy Pelosi did prior to Whats-his-face getting inaugurated.
Just how many victims of Issac are there anyway?
Good question but there will be thousands when the total assessment of the damages are finalized. Flooding is the major impact with some wind/tornado damage and the last I heard there were four deaths.
Obama visit Louisiana yet?
It is scheduled for Monday. It takes time to make arrangements with his busy schedule don’t you know. He was in Ft Bliss in Tx today and could have made a couple hours flight change and been on the ground.
“If I had a father, he would look just like Harry.”
Probably out crashing some little leauge awards ceremony somewhere.
Louisiana’s Senator Vitter needs to get REALLY LOUD and smoke that senile old fart Reid, sooner than later.
Reid, the gift that keeps on giving:
*Alleged ties to the Mob when he was Casino Commissioner
*Brain-damage from boxing
*Lives in a very white state, and lives very well
*Son has had legal troubles/honesty problems/cronyism
*Dumb as a doorknob, but slimy as Nancy Pelosi (or shit on a stick)
*The face of intolerance by the Democrat Party
*Psychopathic liar (re Romney not paying taxes for 10 years.
*Delusional - was told about Romney and tax issues by a voice on the phone (I don’t think he owns a phone. just hears things on his own).
*Spent too much time out in the Nevada desert, alone and without a hat
*Wonder how much time he spent at the Mustang Ranch? I hold, from a voice on the phone, that his nickname was “Dirty Dingy Harry”.
Hey Harry, “One Ringy Dingy; Two Ringy Dingies”.
How the hell did the people of Nevada elect this moron to Congress? What is in the water? (I know what is in some of the water. I worked on several environmental pollution cases out where he lives. Harry, drink wine, but in moderation. Oh hell, drive whatever you want and in quantity. The drunker you are, the more you expose what a putz you are. Cheers, you brain-addled desert rat.)
She's in Rome lecturing the Pope on the finer points of Canon Law.
These men act like children. It reminds me of 2 ten year old boys trying to one up each other. Very childish.
If Mitt Romney walked across Lake Ponchatrain, Reid’s response would be, “This just goes to show that Mitt Romney cannot swim.”
Isaac did end up being a Cat 1. Most hurricanes hit and then scoot on out of the area. But Isaac was only moving 5-6 mph and would not budget, thereby subjecting the same area to massive amounts of water over and over.
Houston experienced the same situation several years ago when Allison sat over our city and refused to budge for a very long time. Houston has spent millions and millions of dollars upgrading their flood control in the meantime but, according to our local Flood Control officials, if it had to withstand the pounding that NOLA just went through it would put the entire area under water.
You can lessen the damage but it can never be totally eliminated.
I would certainly expect to hear some of the arguments we have heard in the past against spending massive amounts of money on flood control simply because our entire coastal area is very close to sea level.
I would hate to think how much whining we would have heard out of people on the east coast had they had as much rain there, given all the crying we heard from them earlier this year.
‘when somebody doesn’t do the job, we gotta let them go’.
I don't think that's a function of the Senate.
Repeal the 17th amendment.
They should get the placard up in front of Romneys podiums-”Office of the President elect”
Right about now my visulization of Harry Reid is of one of those small yapping dogs who just won’t shut up. He is standing next to a pile of Obama feces, he knows he is about to become Senate MINORITY Leader and is doing everything he can to confuse, delay and obfuscate. Won’t work Harry, you are about to get your comeuppance and it cannot happen soon enough!
