65 teens on a bus going to a “party”
what kind of party?
where were the parents?
Tragic.
Poor kid. It was a stupid thing to do, but then teenagers often do a lot of dumb things (I know I sure did). I’m wondering if there weren’t any chaperones on the upper deck of the bus.
BTW, maybe it’s just because I’m getting old, but 65 kids all going to one Sweet 16 birthday? That’s a big honking birthday party!
How does a group on a bus go from Fort Lee NJ, to party in Garfield NJ (west of Fort Lee), by way of GWBridge which heads east into NY? am I reading info wrong? Or were parents misinformed about where party was?
God bless him.
Ouch
This is most tragic. However, kids will do dumb things.
I guess next week the law suits will follow.
I feel very sad for the family. May God Help Them.
I'm now an old man and I've done a lot more stupid things by mistake in the past 20 years than I did in my first 20 on purpose.
3 seconds later a drunk sideswiped us and got himself killed. My family wasn't hurt but shaken seeing the drunk with his head smashed through his windshield. After that I wouldn't so much as put a finger out the window.
This guy has got to be a Darwin Award candidate. He exited the gene pool in a gobsmackingly stupid way.
Let the suing begin..........
Here is a link to the NY Post story, it has answers to some questions that have been raised here (there was only one chaperone on board and yes the bus is a double-decker) and also a picture of this unfortunate young man and the bus itself.
The bus was travelling from queens to nj for the party. I don’t know why that would be unless it was just that the party was being held in Jersey. It appears this was another over-the-top sweet 16 affair, I can’t imagine what it must cost just to rent that bus!
It’s very tragic, the deceased was a very handsome young man. And judging by what others have said, and heck yes, even my own experiences, he was just miserably unlucky yesterday.
Sometimes Mother Nature wins.
Low clearance .... what a way to go
This happened to a kid I went to grade school with. He stuck his head out the window of the school bus and got hit by a telephone pole. It later turned out he was being raped on a daily basis by his stepfather (found out from his younger brother who was also being molested). I often wondered if he committed kiddie suicide.
You can’t help stupid, but those witnessing kids realize how being stupid isn’t cool. Life ain’t fair, but this life lesson will probably help some of those kids choose the good life.
If stupid was always fatal, we’d all be dead.
And that’s a fact.
Condolences to the family.
