Mitt Romney's Character
Townhall.com ^ | August 31, 2012 | Guy Benson

If Barack Obama and David Axelrod had their druthers, every American voter would have a certain impression of Mitt Romney:  An exceedingly wealthy, secretive, greedy robber baron, using his substantial means to identify and exploit small businesses -- sucking them dry of capital, bankrupting them, and laying off all the hard-working employees, leaving a trail of human misery and destruction in his wake.  After distributing those pink slips, he cackles and rubs his hands together while depositing his obscene profits into his off-shore bank account somewhere, then it's on to the next victim.  This is the cartoon liberals have painted of Romney, spending tens of millions of dollars on negative ads.  It's mean-spirited fantasy.  Yes, Mitt Romney built an exceptional private sector career.  Americans tend to celebrate that sort of thing.  But he's also a faithful, honorable, compassionate family man whose generosity and kindness hasn't gotten nearly enough attention, at least until last night.  Three speeches during the closing session of the Republican National Convention shed light on the private deeds and values of the party's nominee for president.  I'd bet that the Romney's weren't thrilled by the prospect of airing their private (squeaky-clean) laundry for all the world to see because bragging about doing the right thing feels unseemly.  But given the assault on Mitt Romney's character and the consequential nature of the election, they relented and decided to allow others to sketch out those elements of Mitt's life on his behalf.  Kate touched on one of these speeches earlier.  I cannot possibly share these vignettes any better than the speakers themselves.  The hall was silent, and few eyes remained dry during these extraordinary testimonials:

RNC 2012: Church Members Share Moving Tale of Son's Tragic Death

RNC 2012: Church Member Says Mitt Romney Devotes Life to 'Quietly Serving Others'

My eyes welled up again just posting these videos.  I couldn't help by feel pangs of profound compassion for these families, and genuine gladness that a man as fine as Mitt Romney was active in their lives to comfort and help them during their struggles.  Where is the monstrous, avaricious, uncaring money robot we're always warned about in these anecdotes?  He's nowhere to be found because he doesn't exist.  This truth transcends partisanship.  Another speaker at the convention was Jane Edmonds -- a member of Governor Romney's Massachusetts cabinet and a lifelong liberal Democrat.  She chose to speak out for her former boss because of his integrity, not his platform:

Mitt Romney’s Character:

He supports abortion
He supports gun control
He supports gay couples
He supports gay adoption
He supports gay boy scouts
He supports gay military
He supports revenue enhancements (obfuscated tax increases)
He supports global warming
He supports RomneyCare for us all

His character hasn’t changed any since the time he was in the primaries and everyone on Free Republic was busy supporting anybody but Romney: Cain, Bachman, Perry, Gingrich, Santorum.

His character hasn’t changed since the time everyone was absolutely certain that he was a flip-flopping, liberal loving, fumr.

So....if Romney hasn’t changed....who has?

I have noticed a great many smears on FR lately, along the line you used, “I guess it will make you happy if that arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave is reelected...”

I do not in any way, shape, or form support evil. So read the following carefully.

Christians do not treat, parley, negotiate, compromise or converse with evil - ever! Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil.

What actions by Obama are we all up in arms over?

1. Mandating that all citizens subsidize abortion (aka baby slaughter)

2. Mandating the all citizens pay for sterilization and contraception coverage

3. Mandating that Catholic institutions provide abortifacients and contraceptives

4. Legally ratifying sodomy as “marriage”

5. Negating the 2nd Amendment

What is the difference between Obama and Romney on these four points? Well, not much!

Obama is attempting to execute points one through five.

Mitt Romney has ALREADY EXECUTED points one through four, and started in on point five.

Obama is trying to do it, Romney has ALREADY DONE every single one of first four things and partially five, in Massachusetts.

I don’t care about Romney’s family. I don’t care what line of bullshit he is peddling while running for POTUS as he recites scripted propaganda. I don’t care, Kaslin.

Romney is the father of and has already executed Obamacare in Massachusetts.

ROMNEY’S MASSACHUSETTS GUBERNATORIAL STAFF WENT TO THE WHITE HOUSE AND HELPED DRAFT OBAMACARE FOR THE OBAMA REGIME IN 2009.

God has told us not to trust evil, or do business with those who are evil because in the end they own us.

Here’s one, for starters. Just so you know, Mitt Romney doesn’t get his hands dirty - he lets others do the dirty work.

Romney or Obama will be the next President.

When you spend all your time trash talking Romney, you are actively working for the Obama Campaign

That may not be the intent, it is the result of your actions.

It is politically stupid to actively work to elect someone who disagrees 100% with what you claim is your values.

One day you will be judged for your actions. I suggest you seriously reconsider the path you are choosing to walk down here.

Here one for you. This is from Governor Palin not some propaganda bot writing on a blog. I suggest you start listening to her rather then manufacturing reasons to be pissed off because your candidate of choice did not win the nomination.

I agree, Satin.

Romney, the man universally reviled on Free Republic for his radical liberalism just a few short months ago, has suddenly sprouted wings and grown a halo.

If it weren’t so funny, I’d be depressed by it. I know these folks are all pretending. Pretty regularly one of the ABOs will say, “I still think he’s a POS.” or something like that, and then they’ll add, “But he’s the only choice we have.”

I guess we’re gonna just laugh our way through this election.

I agree. I would have voted for him over the socialist usurping slime-ball but now I feel good about voting for him rather than just an ABO vote.

I guess it will make you happy if actual conservatives put their brains in a blind trust and silently tolerate the election of Mittler to finish the destruction of the republic and of the GOP (which destruction of the GOP Obozo cannot do) and to comfort yourself as you sell out by pretending that Mittler has something, anything to do with Western Civilization and its restoration in our land. I don’t owe you or Mittler or the despicable GOP-E my vote now or ever.

“Romney, the man universally reviled on Free Republic for his radical liberalism just a few short months ago, has suddenly sprouted wings and grown a halo.....”

Of course he has......some of us understand reality when it’s staring us in the face.....

Ya haf to unnerstand the Dems see politics as a broken-bottle, knife and gun, bar-room brawl...in other words “war” for survival...

In the words of one helluva an American

“As you know, you go to war with the army you have, not the army you might want or wish to have at a later time.”

Donald Rumsfeld

I may not agree much with Romney ....but unlike Obama, he DOES have the executive skills and experience to get the job done.

I sure do wish it’d been Palin , however..

See #14, mnj.

It’s all in the hands of God no matter what I do. They could both get hit by a meteor during the debates, and we could have someone else.

God raises up leaders and lowers them. He’s done it for centuries without my vote. I assume He’ll do so again without my vote which WILL be cast for a principled conservative.

Daniel 2: “Then Daniel praised the God of heaven 20 and said: “Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his. 21 He changes times and seasons; he sets up kings and deposes them.”
