Mitt Romney's Character
Townhall.com ^ | August 31, 2012 | Guy Benson

Posted on 09/01/2012 4:05:35 AM PDT by Kaslin

If Barack Obama and David Axelrod had their druthers, every American voter would have a certain impression of Mitt Romney:  An exceedingly wealthy, secretive, greedy robber baron, using his substantial means to identify and exploit small businesses -- sucking them dry of capital, bankrupting them, and laying off all the hard-working employees, leaving a trail of human misery and destruction in his wake.  After distributing those pink slips, he cackles and rubs his hands together while depositing his obscene profits into his off-shore bank account somewhere, then it's on to the next victim.  This is the cartoon liberals have painted of Romney, spending tens of millions of dollars on negative ads.  It's mean-spirited fantasy.  Yes, Mitt Romney built an exceptional private sector career.  Americans tend to celebrate that sort of thing.  But he's also a faithful, honorable, compassionate family man whose generosity and kindness hasn't gotten nearly enough attention, at least until last night.  Three speeches during the closing session of the Republican National Convention shed light on the private deeds and values of the party's nominee for president.  I'd bet that the Romney's weren't thrilled by the prospect of airing their private (squeaky-clean) laundry for all the world to see because bragging about doing the right thing feels unseemly.  But given the assault on Mitt Romney's character and the consequential nature of the election, they relented and decided to allow others to sketch out those elements of Mitt's life on his behalf.  Kate touched on one of these speeches earlier.  I cannot possibly share these vignettes any better than the speakers themselves.  The hall was silent, and few eyes remained dry during these extraordinary testimonials:

RNC 2012: Church Members Share Moving Tale of Son's Tragic Death

RNC 2012: Church Member Says Mitt Romney Devotes Life to 'Quietly Serving Others'

My eyes welled up again just posting these videos.  I couldn't help by feel pangs of profound compassion for these families, and genuine gladness that a man as fine as Mitt Romney was active in their lives to comfort and help them during their struggles.  Where is the monstrous, avaricious, uncaring money robot we're always warned about in these anecdotes?  He's nowhere to be found because he doesn't exist.  This truth transcends partisanship.  Another speaker at the convention was Jane Edmonds -- a member of Governor Romney's Massachusetts cabinet and a lifelong liberal Democrat.  She chose to speak out for her former boss because of his integrity, not his platform:

It is time for the Romney bashers in here to wake up. Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and vote for the nominee. I have done so before and not regretted it

Here’s one, for starters. Just so you know, Mitt Romney doesn’t get his hands dirty - he lets others do the dirty work.

Yeah - and one of our favorite places to eat had a waitress who was stealing via credit cards - I still like the place and the owner, but the gal can rot in hell....unless of course the owner had a nefarious plot wherein he told the gal to steal money from his customers - then I need to not be so forgiving.

A man of the cloth must, among other things, be a judge of character. Your congregants were very fortunate to have had a pastor like you.

May God continue to bless you and yours!

They said that last time about McCain, Kaslin, and the last time I did it, I said Never Again.

Romney deserves bashing. If he didn't deserve bashing, he wouldn't have been universally bashed here on Free Republic since 2007.

But, 2 months ago he got promoted to "Angel in Attendance", his history disappeared, and his former opponents all got stock in Jack Daniels so they wouldn't have to remember when they wrote.

Thanks, BlackElk. God is blessing us. He’s bringing water to our parched and withered farmland here in rural Ohio.

It amazes me that He brought storm clouds all the way from Africa to Ohio. We’d been praying for rain. We’ll get 3 on and off days of it now.

If all of you recall numerous previous post that went something like this, “Anybody but Obama!”.

Well people, you have a choice now, it's either “Anybody or Obama”. Like many of you, my first choice would NOT have been Romney but he was selected by the GOP as their candidate. The GOP has screwed us before but we stuck with them and I suggest we stick with them again and vote Romney.
Any other candidate “Obummer” would be disaster.

It’s a great story about a honest and decent man the press is trying to demonize.

My favorite speech was Ted Cruz (done without teleprompter). If the MSM could have gotten away with it, they would have completed their war on minority and women speakers by refusing to air the Ann Romney and Marco Rubio speeches.

For pure entertainment value, I loved the Clint Eastwood speech. It got under the democrat/progressive/socialist party’s skin. In spite of what the pundits (including the know-it-alls at Fox) said, that speech hit home.

Most adults realize one does not always get their idea of the perfect candidate and they will have to make their decision based on the actuall choices they have. Evidently you don't subscribe to that realization and continue with the thought that you know best over everyone else. I for one will support the candidate that has been chosen and not allow a false sense of ideological superiority to destroy this country.

“If he can’t do the jon, you gotta let him go. You just gotta let him go.”

As to Romney, those who spoke made it abundantly clear what sort of man he is...and Sarah Palin herself has not only endorsed him, but also indicated it is impreative to get him elected.

The detractors are almost always taking their feelings from an opposition to his religiona nd going from there.

The fact is, all anyone has tpo do is read his site and his plan and stance on the issues to know that he is clarly not what they say he is concerning abortion, gay marriage, etc., etc.

Either we believe what he says now and the statements he has made about his changes, or we don’t. Based on what so many other people whom I respect, and who have met with and talked personally to the man, have said...who are now whole heartidly endorsing him...I will believe that he has changed and vote whole hheartidly for him over the Kenyan Marxist.

In addition, I like the way he is tweaking Obama’s nose and taking the fight to him. He is getting under their skin in a big way...and that is exactly what he needs to do while sticking to the economy.

My eyes welled up again just posting these videos.

MORMONs do PR quite well.

But; OTOH; what's NOT to like about a fellow who promises to run gov't "...to help you and your family"?

Christians do not treat, parley, negotiate, compromise or converse with evil - ever! Choosing the lesser of two evils is still choosing evil.

You'll be called a HATEFUL Bigot for stating this!!

Hebrews 13:9
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings.

2 Peter 2:1-3
1. But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
2. Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
3. In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.

2 John 1:10
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him.

It is politically stupid to actively work to elect someone who disagrees 100% with what you claim is your values.

While...

It is SPIRITUALLY stupid to actively work to elect someone who is either a DECEIVED Mormon or a DECEIVING one.

GOD is not mocked...
