In a Post-Convention Bump, Romney Draws Huge Crowds in Cincinnati
The New York Times ^ | Sept.1,2012 | JEREMY W. PETERS

A crowd of thousands cheered Mitt Romney at a rally here during the opening leg of a cross-country campaign swing on Saturday, testing for the first time whether he can sustain political momentum coming out of the Republican National Convention.

A line of people that stretched for five city blocks awaited Mr. Romney as his motorcade pulled into the Union Terminal. Inside there were so many people that the campaign had to redirect a few hundred of them into a small overflow room, where they crammed in shoulder to shoulder.

Mr. Romney has often failed to spark much of a connection with his audiences, and enthusiasm for him along the campaign trail has often been in short supply.

But inside a soaring Art Deco-styled rotunda here, the candidate, joined by Senator Rob Portman and Representative John Boehner, the House speaker, delivered a vigorous and sharply focused speech that sent the audience into ear-splitting roars.

Mr. Romney added new punch lines to his denunciation of President Obama’s first term as a betrayal of the promises he made and a failure to lead.

“One of the promises he made was he was going to create more jobs. And today, 23 million people are out of work or stopped looking for work or underemployed,” Mr Romney said. “Let me tell you, if you have a coach that’s 0 and 23 million, you say it’s time to get a new coach. It’s time for America to see a winning season again, and we’re going to bring it to them.”

In the last few weeks, Mr. Romney has relied on his running mate, Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, to infuse energy into his campaign rallies.

Never heard of this NYT writer. He might not have a job much longer if he keeps this up.

Rasmussen had him 3% points ahead of Obozo - 47% to 44%.
The intersting thing is that for some weird reason, Republicans poll better during the work week than during weekends.

Maybe that gap will increase on Monday.

I hope Obozo doesn’t get a large bump after his convention.

Later in the day he and Ryan were at a rally in Jacksonville, Florida.

I caught part of it on FOX and Romney was on fire!

If he had given a speech at the convention like the one he was giving a Jacksonville the delegates would have torn the walls down and run through the town throwing protesters in Tampa Bay!

Maybe they needed someone with a functioning brain and borrowed him from somewhere else.

Obama won’t get any bump, in fact, he might lose voters, once they see what kind of pathetic convention he will have(Full of free abortions and free birth control) only his whack job supporters will still vote for him(And of course, the media) he wont draw in any new voters.
I care more about the battleground state polls. Romney being 3 points ahead is good but the delegate count is more important to me, but if Romney can win both that’s fine with me too :-)

Yep.....ladies & gentlemen, this is a really close election. VP, Joe Biden can’t get more then 200 morons to his campaign stops, and... the failed POTUS Obama has trouble getting 2,000-3,000 at high school and college gyms. End of story!!!

Good points. The swing states are now in play. Before they were awarding them - guardedly - to Obozo.

I wonder if the Bradley Effect is impacting these polls?

(Are you Sarah Palin?)

Nope, not Sarah Palin, just a big fan :-)
I dont think the Bradley Effect is impacting anything, didn’t impact the election in 2008 so I doubt it does any impact now. If Romney can win Iowa and Ohio the election is over and both are in play. All of the states Obama won in 2008 are in play. It could be that Obama wins the popular vote but loses the delegate count, but I still say Romney will get both

It is starting to smell like a landslide. I hope it is a total humiliation because I think that is what he deserves. The first wookie will be out the door to Hawaii and I hope he even has trouble finding golf partners.

Who’s going to watch the DNC? Seriously? I bet CNN’s numbers don’t even break 100. MSNBC will probably get 2000, and FOX 2490. Why would ANYONE want to watch the losers they’ve rolled out? This has only occurred to me recently. The Dems have no rising stars... tell me, who is the Dem equivalent of Marco Rubio? Who is their Susana Martinez? All they seem to have are no-names and unpopular officials like Rahm Emmanuel. Piglosi and Reid don’t excite the base in any way. This convention is going to FLOP.

Piglosi = Bitch.

Reid = No budgets, no results

Rahm = Worst body-count since Mao Zedong

Warren = Pretended to be Cherokee

Fluke = Wants you to pay for her condoms

Carter = WTF were they thinking?

Clinton = “I did not have sex with that woman”

Kerry = Pussy in Vietnam

Biden = Mentally challenged and vaguely racist

Obama = CLASS A FAILURE

What’s the bright side for the Dimocrats?

Clinton and Obama can both deliver a speech that will excite their base at least.

All of the others listed are absolutely horrible.

Are they going to have a live feed with Hillary in Vladivostok?

Could she get much further away from the democrat convention?

Mr. Romney has often failed to spark much of a connection with his audiences, and enthusiasm for him along the campaign trail has often been in short supply.

Unlike the totally fabricated enthusiasm built up by the media for obama, a complete nobody before he read a speech at the dem convention.

No, the only video address they’ll have will be via satellite, from prison, with Tony Rezko and Rod Bagojevich. Hilary clearly doesn’t want to be on the same side of the world as this Hindenburg of a presidency.
