When I was in Afghanistan, Special Forces was banned from night raids without approval from Karzai (raids had to conform to “Karzai’s Twelve”, a list of allowable conditions for raids to occur without requiring approval from Karzai or his people—no, I’m not kidding).

SF just used the bureaucracy against itself by submitting raid requests late Thursday. The Afghanis were out the door ASAP on Thursdays since Friday is their version of the weekend, so there was no way to disapprove the raid. It got the powers-that-be in a snit, but SF could get away with it since they were technically playing by the rules.
