“I might have confused those photos from the crowning ceremony with the GOP convention”.

What does that mean?

At UCLA back in the 1970’s a young man came up to me at a bus stop and invited me to a “spaghetti dinner” and “discussion” at an off-campus apartment. I knew something was wrong when he looked at me with a weird smile and eyes glazed over, like he was on drugs. But he wasn’t. He was a Moonie.

There was a group there at that time called CARP (Collegiate Assoc. for the Research of Principles). It was a front for the cult. I told him I was busy, he handed me a flyer and left.

The CARP table was often set up on Bruin Walk, the main thoroughfare on campus. I can’t imagine how many young, impressionable minds they ensnared.

In all fairness, I will defend Moon solely on the grounds that he was not only a strident anti-communist, but put his money where his mouth was for decades and became and major pain in their rear end.

He was a big supporter of the Taiwan based World League for Freedom and Democracy, and CAUSA International (”Confederation of the Associations for the Unification of the Societies of the Americas”), and did a lot to get both evangelical and fundamentalist Christians working in an organized manner against communism throughout the Americas as well. He quietly countered a lot of the radical Catholic “liberation theology” in South America as well.

Even the North Koreans respected his clout, knowing that he could even reach to Pyongyang if they ticked him off.

Yes, Christians were well advised to keep a suspicious eye on him, because he did have an awful lot of wacky going on, but he was a big supporter of conservative Republicans in the US, and did much to give all religions influence in the UN, steering it away from communist oriented atheism.

All told, the immense good he did behind the scenes makes up for a lot of the weirdness.

That remains a great song and it was on my mind today. I'm a big fan of Southern Gospel music and that's among the most clever in terms of lyrics. More importantly, it's also accurate.

Thanks for posting this and I hope a lot of FReepers take this opportunity to give it a listen.

Very politically incorrect and multiculturally insensitive—that’s why I love it!

Perfect FReep music.

The liberals have their own anti-war Asian cult leader who’s been giving speeches around the world since the 70’s. Google “Prem Rawat” he’s on YouTube also.

I encountered the CARP folks too. They appeared to have been taught that I Thessalonians 5:2 stated that the Lord would come as a thief in the night (as if the Messiah would be unrecognizable at first) rather than that the day of the Lord would come as a thief in the night.

Reality really doesn’t bother cultists. They will just say that he did have a resurrection . . . only it was secret and none of the followers were worthy enough to witness it.

And their donations will continue unabated . . . so that they too can have a secret resurrection some day.

I wish I were able to confront CNN (who said Moon “supported GOP candidates”) with this video. Liberal cult leader Prem Rawat invited to speak before a Democrat Congress here in America:

Bible choose those two words in English to describe these types of people so well.

Actually the Bible didn't choose those two words... Profit in Latin is lucrum and prophet is propheta

I don't know Hebrew or Greek, but they would have similar differences between the two words.

it's only in English that the two sound similar
