800 march through Charlotte, decrying financial system
Staff reports
The Charlotte Observer
Posted: Sunday, Sep. 02, 2012

**SNIP**

The marchers – representing the unemployed, undocumented immigrants, gay rights activists and many others – stretched the length of a city block. About 800 people joined the march, police estimated.

Some protesters lamented the lower-than-expected turnout.

“Why aren’t there more young people?” asked Richard Conely.

The 61-year-old Atlanta resident, who was in town to show solidarity and take photographs, contrasted the gathering with protests he remembered from the 60s.

**SNIP**

Among the signs waved by demonstrators: “Tax the Banksters. End plutocracy,” “Bust up the Banks” and “I came for the police brutality.”

A lot of these groups have many members in common. Occasionally, you will have the same group of people operating as two or more organizations.

Oh, I'm sorry, I missed the little "slideshow" button above the picture in the story.

Only one of the pictures in the "slideshow" depicted a crowd.

Using my "advanced photogrammetry techniques," I counted 104 persons in that picture (including several behind protest signs, inferred from visible arms and torsos). Of these 104, at least four - and maybe six - were reporters or cameramen. One was clearly a male child, maybe 12 years old. One, a big beefy guy with dark sunglasses, not holding a sign, may have been a member of law enforcement.

I'm confident that picture was cropped to put everyone they could into one shot.

Apparently, the attendees forgot to “tell ten people to tell ten people?”

800? More like 80.
I saw it on the evening news and I thought it was about 100.
The news correspondent even quoted the march leaders as saying they were surprised at the poor turnout.
Actually I give the protestors credit ... it can't be easy to be identified as one of Life Losers in front of of millions of viewers.

hand in hand like a line of paper dolls

Heh, good image.

When the Diocese of Charlotte has the Eucharistic Procession, the front of the line has almost arrived at the Convention Center before the back of the line leaves St. Peter's.

It will be a blessing to America when the last rancid protester from the stupid 60s bites the dust. Talk about a bunch of loony losers!
