If one has a degree in African studies or women’s studies, can one expect to earn a higher wage delivering pizzas? African/Women's-studies grads, when they get jobs, become legislative aides to Democrats, or corporate "diversity" or HR workers.

There is no good in allowing such degrees. It's like awarding a degree in "underwater basket weaving", yes you have a degree, but you are now in debt (most students) and your degree is fundamentally ignored by the business community, or even a scientific community.
What are you going to do with that useless piece of paper? Convert it to a Masters Degree in Liberalism or Community Organizing? What a waste of time and money.
