Virginia Moves Toward Romney

Wanda Snead wants the same thing for her family, her community and her country: “Someone who will take charge of this mess that is happening in our economy and get the country moving again.”

Snead, 56, and her husband, Sam, 64, run a real estate company in this charming Northern Virginia town at the base of Shenandoah National Park, where majestic Skyline Drive meanders down to North Carolina.

They have owned the company for more than 30 years. In 2009 they had ten agents and two offices; today they have three agents and one office.

“We are very fortunate and blessed to be able to keep our doors open still, but it has been a struggle,” she said. Housing keeps America’s economy going, she said, and “Obama has clearly never understood that.”

Snead and her husband are not fanatical Republicans. They are independent voters who, for the first time, have a political sign in front of their business along John Marshall Highway, which runs through the center of town

Right now, this is not the time for 3rd parties. We have a country to save.

I agree with you on all of these except Maine and Pennsylvania. And Colorado and Nevada will be tough. But, in the latter two states, there are heavy Mormon populations. So, NV and CO are possibilities.

Nevada should be interesting.

We will see what kind of stranglehold Reid has with the Mormon Community.

Even if Romney doesn’t win Maine or Pennsylvania it won’t matter. Iowa, Virginia, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, & wisconsin will win it.

And all of this is judging by skewed polling data.

Well, in all reality there are FOUR years of pent up and delayed purchases in the housing market. Many people with means and jobs have delayed purchasing new homes because they are in fear of the future and unable to sell their starter home to a young couple because so few young people have jobs.

Once O’Bumbler is shown the door and if Romney can push trough legislation to eliminate the penalties for companies to bring their money back from overseas, that would free up what is estimated to be close to four trillion in PRIVATE corporate overseas profit.

If he makes good on his promise to reign in the EPA and Eliminate ObamaCare, that would unleash another three trillion in business CASH that is being hoarded in country. A massive jolt of REAL Private equity to our economy could stimulate a massive boom. Couple that with the promise to limit government spending to 20% of GPD (Should be 17%, but it is a start) and Romney could be one of the best fiscal presidents in the modern era.

Of course, we could be doomed, O’Bumbler and the Democrats could steel just enough votes to win the election.

Right after the convention I was a 100 percent guarantee type to vote for Virgil Goode, but since, I have soften and will vote for Romney. The reasons for softening my original guarantee was Romney picked a VP that I absolutely think is 100 percent Conservative. Second, although Romney will talk both sides of his mouth and I know that. He would sell his first born if it would make him President. Obama is WORSE!!!!!

That is a very ambitious list. I am not ready to go there. I want to wait and see what stupid rabbit they pull out of their hat during the DNC Convention. I am very interested to see the “excitement” if it is really there or is it just BS. The stadium is going to be very telling! I am most interested to see if there are 20K people or 78K people. If it is 20K than they are completely done and we might get 40 states.

They will be bussing in every unionist and Public School teacher in the surounding ten states to fill that stadium. Look to the buses parked outside and the states they are charterred from.

I am sure that they will start out in the early AM on thursdday, pump them full of coffee and donuts in Chicago, Detroit, New York, New Jersey, and every iother union stronghold and bus them right back in after the speach

Then there are the ten's of thousands of government employees that work in DC but live in Virginia.

True, but there are a good many active duty military who are Democrats and they know that Obama will cut the military and Romney will not. They're not too thrilled with hopey-changey.

Yes, but there are also thousands of military personnel (and retirees) in Hampton Roads, and Zero won't be getting many votes from them. They know what he's done to the armed forces, and that's just a preview of what will happen if he gets a second term.

For Obama to carry Hampton Roads, he needs to run up huge margins among the minority vote in Norfolk, Portsmouth, Hampton and Newport News. Meanwhile, Romney's a lock to carry the 2nd District, which begins in York County, on the peninsula, and southside suburban areas like Suffolk, Chesapeake and the military areas of Virginia Beach and Norfolk.

There will be an interesting bellwether event in Hampton Roads this week. The Zero has scheduled a visit to Norfolk State University, the region's largest historically black college. The students are back on campus and I believe classes were scheduled to start on Tuesday.

The Dims are predicting 20,000 will turn out at the NSU event, but that raises an interesting question. If Obama is focusing on the college crowd with his visit, why not include nearby Old Dominion University, and hold the event a ODU’s Ted Constant Convocation Center, a 10,000 seat basketball arena. The real answer? There would be too many empty seats. Obama’s going to one of the few places in Hampton Roads where he can still draw a significant crowd, but not enough to fil a 10,000 seat arena on a majority white college campus.

BTW, I heard the line to see Mitt Romney in Cincinnati was five blocks long on Saturday. Can't wait to see how the media tries to spin the Norfolk State event.

Marylanders move in droves to Virginia
Maryland lost the most residents in the mid-Atlantic between 2007 and 2010 — and many of them moved to Virginia, according to a study released Tuesday.

Almost 40,000 Marylanders crossed the Potomac River for new homes in Virginia, taking $2.17 billion with them, according to the Internal Revenue Service data used in the study conducted by Change Maryland, a nonpartisan group advocating for less state spending and lower taxes.

Let's hope they're not all RATs...

I have a son who is running the ground game for the Perkins campaign in the 11th district. He is seeking to oust Gerry Connelly the liberal Democrat. When the Va legislature redistricted the state the 11th was gerrymandered to give the Dems a 6% advantage over Repub voters. Perkins is a retired army Colonel and Green Beret. He is running because of his concern over what Obama is doing to our country. The GOP is not funding his campaign because they see it as a waste of funds. Having said this it is my opinion that he will win. In the 11th there are over 200k government workers and employees of defense contractors. Due to sequestering of funds lay off notices will be in the hands of at least of the government workers who live on the district a week or two before the election. When it sinks in that Obama is threatening their livelihoods I am willing to bet that most of these workers cast a vote for Perkins, Allen and Romney. I am willing to bet that Romney wins the state by a 10% margin. Furthermore comments about Prince William County going Democrat or liberal are way off base regardless of what Obama did in 2008. This county has the largest number of registered Republicans in the state. Turn out the Republicans and the state goes to Allen and Romney. I am politically active in the party and a delegate to the county, district and state conventions and the Republicans in and the county and state are fired up. Virginia will go Republican in a major way in November.

You have some decent points. However the influx of young unmarried women into the area is a wild card even for Fairfax (although more so for Arlington county). They are overwhelmingly Obama voters and we just have to hope they will stay home. PW county is a mixed bag, heavily illegal and has lots of politically split households like Fairfax. Your PW anecdote " This county has the largest number of registered Republicans in the state." is silly, obviously the proportion is what counts, not the number.

There is no way the state goes 10% for Romney. The MSM has a lock on Northern Virginia media. The largest radio station is 99% liberal and uses Politico for most of their in depth analysis. Fairfax and the other surrounding suburbs have had a mixed influx, not just the young and stupid women, but older stupid men and women as well as smarter ones.

The best that can be said for Fairfax is that there are a lot "Reagan Democrats" (or similar philosophy if they are younger). That means they are liberals who went for Reagan (or would go) and would reject Obama who like Carter is an utter failure. The question is whether they will see that in time or not. Many of them voted for Obama.

They have plenty of jobs thanks to defense spending so the economy is not an issue.

If Obama wins then many people in the defense will be layed off due to sequestration. By law defense companies have to give notice by October 31st. Obama wants the companies to break the law.

Here is a list of articles:
