Axelrod To Wallace: Americans ‘In A Better Position Than We Were Four Years Ago’
Mediate ^ | September 2, 2012 | Andrew Kirell

Appearing on Fox News Sunday this morning, President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod told host Chris Wallace that he believes Americans are better off today than they were four years ago.

“Can you honestly say that Americans better off today than they were four years ago?” Wallace pointedly asked Axelrod.

“I can say that we’re in a better position than we were four years ago in our economy, in the sense that when this president took office, we were losing 800,000 jobs a month,” Axelrod responded. “And the quarter before he took office was the worst since the Great Depression and we are in a different place.”

“29 straight months of job growth, 4.5 million private sector jobs,” the adviser cited as statistical evidence, but conceded: “Are we where we need to be? No.”

Axelrod then went on to pan Mitt Romney‘s Republican National Convention performance as a “terrible failure” for failing, in his view, to offer a “plausible” alternative to President Obama’s path.

Wallace then challenged Axelrod for trying to refocus on Romney, putting up statistics that showed worse numbers now on unemployment, median household income, national debt, and gas prices since the president took office in 2009.

“Looking at the president’s record and the statistics,” Wallace pressed again, “is the average American better off than four years ago?”

Axelrod initially dodged the question by saying that “the average American recognizes that it took years to create the crisis that erupted in 2008 and peaked in 2009, and it’s going to take some time to work through it.”

Unsatisfied, Wallace pressed Axelrod again: “[Obama] is the one seeking reelection. He famously said if ‘I don’t turn this thing around, I will be a one-term president.’ The economy has 300,000 fewer jobs than in February 2009.”

“I think those auto-workers whose industry would have collapsed if the president hadn’t intervened are certainly better off,” Axelrod said. “I think that the millions and millions of young Americans who have health care today that wouldn’t have had it if the president hadn’t acted are better off. I think the millions of people who have been able to renegotiate their mortgages so that they are paying lower interest rates are better off.”

Of course, he fails to take into account the hundreds of thousands of skilled workers who have left the workforce in hopeless frustration.

I don't mind telling you that I and my family are demonstrably worse off than we were four years ago. My wife is working for the local school system - hasn't had a raise in five years. I work free-lance on a contract basis - my going rate has dropped 20% in the last four years. My daughter, who graduated from college last year with an outstanding academic record, cannot find a job. Our income has declined incrementally over the last four years, while our expenses rise.

More importantly, we are not as secure now as we were in 2008. Obama has systematically undercut the efficiency of our military and undermined our foreign policy interests. He is truly a disaster as POTUS.

Genuflectimus non ad principem sed ad Principem Pacis!

Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name. (Isaiah 49:1 KJV)

The question isn’t whether a person is better off now than 4 years ago.

There are three questions to be answered.

First, are you as well off as you should be today. If you aren’t part of the liberal cabel who have been paid off by our tax dollars, the answer is no.

Second, Does Obama have any plan that could possibly improve our lives in the next 4 years. The answer is hell no.

Third, are we stupid? The answer I hope is NO for a majority of americans.

I watched the “interview”, just a few minutes ago.

It’s still unbelievable that 52% of America voted for that subhuman POS, and after 4yrs of hell, 47% still approve and would vote him back in for 4 more years of absolute hell, in comparison to the 1st term.

God, please help us and save America.

What you're going to hear this week in Charlotte is a president who is going to present a clear agenda for the future talks, that talks about how we build a sound economy and lift the middle class in this country.

Oh my God this is insane. What every citizen should ask, is why didn't he offer up this fodder for past talks, say when he had a Democrat majority in the House and Senate for the first two years of his term in office?

Why are we supposed to believe he'll come up with a plan now?

He had four years to present a plan. Now he's about to get spanked at the polls, and it's, "Honest mommy, I'll be good from now on." Bull pucky...

Come November 6th, you're going to be Donald Trumped you jackass.

Chris did a good job of boring back in on Axelrod. I’d like to know what good it’s going to do us when obozo says he can reduce the debt by $4 trillion in 10 years when we KNOW he’s going to add another $4 trillion to it (and probably more) in 4 more years if reelected.

Axelrod was getting miffed but that’s ok. You know when someone has to keep saying, “As I already said...As I already told you”, they are losing the argument.

Exactly what I was muttering to myself as I was fixing dinner.

Axelrod To Wallace: Americans ‘In A Better Position Than We Were Four Years Ago’

Yeah...right on Axle

We can better evaluate Obama and his merry band of Marxists and Musslims together with record unemployment, housing, food stamp use, national debt, and declining GDP.

The only people better off today than 4 years ago are the Prisoners at Guantanamo.

I have a small little Etsy shop where I sell hats that I make myself. I started it in 2006 and 2008 was my best year.
Since 2009 I have steadily lost business and it is down about 70% of what it was in 2008. I think many people do not have the extra income to make purchases that are not necessary. FU Axelrod

Chris Wallace pulverized David Axlerod. The GOP could get some good “ad material” from that broadcast. It was AWESOME!!! There will be a re-run tonight at 9 Eastern / 8 Central on FOX.

Axelrod straight up lied.

No he didn't.Some workers are indeed better off...... such as civil servants, not those of us working in non government jobs

Boy, there's alot of gold in that statement isn't there?

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Six Pack: Are YOU better off today, than the UAW workers who received almost a combined one-hundred BILLION dollars in taxpayer bailouts? Are your pensions guaranteed by THEIR tax dollars?

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Six Pack: Are you happy paying for OTHER PEOPLE's health care insurance when you can hardly afford to pay your own?

Mr. & Mrs. Joe Six Pack: Are you happy helping pay for OTHER people's mortgages via your taxpayer dollars and increased banking fees when you're struggling to pay your own?

All the people who are "better off" are mooching off the American Taxpayer! Hello Romney campaign - please pick up a white courtesy phone!
