Axelrod To Wallace: Americans ‘In A Better Position Than We Were Four Years Ago’
Mediate ^ | September 2, 2012 | Andrew Kirell

Appearing on Fox News Sunday this morning, President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod told host Chris Wallace that he believes Americans are better off today than they were four years ago.

“Can you honestly say that Americans better off today than they were four years ago?” Wallace pointedly asked Axelrod.

“I can say that we’re in a better position than we were four years ago in our economy, in the sense that when this president took office, we were losing 800,000 jobs a month,” Axelrod responded. “And the quarter before he took office was the worst since the Great Depression and we are in a different place.”

“29 straight months of job growth, 4.5 million private sector jobs,” the adviser cited as statistical evidence, but conceded: “Are we where we need to be? No.”

Axelrod then went on to pan Mitt Romney‘s Republican National Convention performance as a “terrible failure” for failing, in his view, to offer a “plausible” alternative to President Obama’s path.

Wallace then challenged Axelrod for trying to refocus on Romney, putting up statistics that showed worse numbers now on unemployment, median household income, national debt, and gas prices since the president took office in 2009.

“Looking at the president’s record and the statistics,” Wallace pressed again, “is the average American better off than four years ago?”

Axelrod initially dodged the question by saying that “the average American recognizes that it took years to create the crisis that erupted in 2008 and peaked in 2009, and it’s going to take some time to work through it.”

Unsatisfied, Wallace pressed Axelrod again: “[Obama] is the one seeking reelection. He famously said if ‘I don’t turn this thing around, I will be a one-term president.’ The economy has 300,000 fewer jobs than in February 2009.”

“I think those auto-workers whose industry would have collapsed if the president hadn’t intervened are certainly better off,” Axelrod said. “I think that the millions and millions of young Americans who have health care today that wouldn’t have had it if the president hadn’t acted are better off. I think the millions of people who have been able to renegotiate their mortgages so that they are paying lower interest rates are better off.”

He’s right, from the imperial point of view.

It’s so much easier to decapitate an enemy who is on his knees.

Is it just me, or does Axelrod remind anyone else of the unctuous Uriah Heep from David Copperfield? I can hardly bear to look at him much less listen to him talk.

Note that Axelrod is using the royal “WE”.

Obama and the Chicago thugocracy are in a better position.

The rest of us ...not so much.

already had to do that, bankruptcy. Also had to take husband’s annuities from tile union job (long gone to survive), job that has had scant to no work in 4 yrs.. Hours determine having medical benefits, need 900 to 1500 a year, haven’t had anything close to that so our medical coverage is also gone. The most hours in one year have been about 300, this year about a month of work so far..we are dying.

Everything looked rosy in 2007-2008, we bought our first home after 30 yrs. and now could lose it anytime now...thanks O-BLAME-O, yeah, we’re so much better off, NOT. Have never experienced unemployment this long in my husband’s entire time in the tile union, since 1989. Cliffs and bridges are looking inviting..........

He never talked about his $5 trillion tax cut skewed to the wealthy,

What the !!! 5 Trillion tax cut. Where did he get that figure? I was wondering why Chris didn't call him on that.

Um ... nope. We went from a one income family living comfortably to a two income family trying to match what we had before. Wallace is wrong.

What you're going to hear this week in Charlotte is a president who is going to present a clear agenda for the future talks, that talks about how we build a sound economy and lift the middle class in this country. You didn't hear those kinds of things from the Republican Party.

Broken Axelrod was peddling the usual democratic BULLSHIT*
The economy tanked and the private sector contracted and withdrew capital from the economy as soon as it became possible that Obama, the unknown, might have a shot at the presidency. Yes, Bush was still president, but the private sector is not stupid. The entire contraction was triggered by the Great Fraud.

Why should we expect a clear plan from Obama this time? HOPE and CHANGE is not a plan, and that is the only BULLSHIT* he gave us in 2008. No actual plan; not even a hint of plan.

The entire country with IQs over 75 know how that turned out. No speculation there. No "Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda..." Just verifible history.
If I were Broken Axelrod, I would be embarrassed to keep repeating the same BS mantra. Getting hit and run over by a semi is "change." But not exactly the sort of change too many people assumed he meant. He gave us empty promises, and he kept every one!

What do you do when you hire someone to do a job, he talks big and fails miserably?
YOU FIRE HIM!

*Bullshit

I don’t know where these Democrat nitwits come up with the “created 4.5 million private sector jobs” mantra, but we hear it all of the time. Particularly distressing is when some Democrat trumpets that figure on O’Reilly and doesn’t get called on it.

We now have 25 million people unemployed and under employed (they’ve lost good jobs and now are working at minimum wage jobs). In 2008 we had 6.5million unemployed. Today we have 12.8 million unemployed, and there are 300,000 fewer total private sector jobs than before Obozo took over. How can anyone say with a straight face that 4.5 million new private sector jobs have been created? Someone needs to call these liars out on that.

I wonder who the Einstein over in the Obama camp is, who puts Axlerod out there in the first place. I’m not even talking about conservative vs. liberal, just talking tactics. Axlerod is a total negative on the campaign stump. He needs to be stuck back in the basement with the other mushrooms.

The campaign poster to end all posters...

http://southeasttexastoday.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/obama-campaign-poster-to-end-all-posters-need-to-know-from-bobby-joe.jpg

The Quote of the Decade:
The fact that we are here today to debate raising America ‘s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government cannot pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, “the buck stops here.’ Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.
~ Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

(...it was so nice of him to give us this great quote for posterity!)

HERE IS ALL I WANT
Obama: Gone! Borders: Closed! Congress: Obey its own laws Language: English only Culture: Constitution, and the Bill of Rights! Drug Free: Mandatory Drug Screening before Welfare! NO freebies to: Non-Citizens!
Stop sending Michelle and “the girls” on lavish vacations around the world on borrowed money from China!!

We the people are coming!

Yeah, that ‘cash for clunkers’ flimflam really stimulated the purchasing power of people who could not afford a new Obamawagon.

The suck-ups in the press let Obama use that excuse for four years... When Romney’s elected the press will hold him responsible for every mess after he’s been in office 24 hours - you know they will..

You don’t know me.. But I do non-government work.

I could hire someone to help keep up with demand.

I won’t.

I won’t after November either. I want to make sure the checks Mitt’s mouth is writing clear the bank first.

Axelrod To Wallace: Americans ‘In A Better Position Than We Were Four Years Ago’

The only way one could possibly agree with this statement is if we consider that 4 years ago America was about to elect Obama, and now we're about to send him into early retirement.

So yeah, if you think about it that way, the future's so bright we ought to wear shades... couldn't say that 4 years ago.
