Democrats Call for Lawmaker Diversity Training
newschannel5.com ^ | Sept. 2, 2012 | Jim Summerville

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Tennessee Democrats believe it's time for lawmakers to re-take diversity and sensitivity training.

The push comes after recent comments made by two Republican lawmakers. The first - Senator Jim Summerville sent an email using crude language saying he didn't care what the black caucus thought about an issue.

The email read, "I don't give a rat's (expletive) what the Black Caucus thinks."

It was sent to state Representative Barbara Cooper, D-Memphis, and was then forwarded to members of the Black Caucus. It was referring to a report from black lawmakers on the recent grading controversy at Tennessee State University.

"It was unprofessional, completely unnecessary, and it shows disregard for the Tennessee Black Caucus and the work we do," said state Representative Brenda Gilmore, D-Nashville.

How about ‘Lawmaker 101’ training? Or maybe ‘How to work for a Living Rather than Collecting Your ‘Entitlement’ After You Get Elected’?

Guess we need to look closer at our Congress Critters when they run for office as many seem to think they are entitled to our money. This I don’t need to work to get rich attitude seems to be alive and well in Congress ... especially with Democrats and the US Senate.

It’s getting to the point where obe cannot have an honest conversation with someone without the race card being pulled.

Why should he care what a Black separatist group thinks? Should he also care what White separatist groups think?

It sounds to me like a hate group is after him for not being racist.

“re-take”? If any state Republican representative voluntarily undergoes indoctrination, I think it proves that they are deficient for the job. I already assume the Democrats are deficient, so they can listen to p.c. bulldada all day long. But I expect Republicans to be:

1) Adults
2) Not crazy
3) Smart enough not to blurt out stupid things in public
4) Too busy in their job to waste time being indoctrinated.

Since the issue under discussion is about the Black Caucus and IQ, perhaps a literature search of comparative IQ scores of whites and blacks may be of interest.

Hard data is preferable to hard ball politics, isn’t it?

I’m sure that until the Republicans took over in TN the Democrats, and their “Black Caucus”, used to treat the Republicans the same way.

Can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Freaking whiners.

“”I don’t give a rat’s (expletive) what the Black Caucus thinks.”

He needs to send an apology immediately: I apologize for the inference that the black caucus thinks.

Good for him.

Don’t let them intimidate you.

Lawmaker’s diversity training, sounds like another wonderful program like affirmative action. Lawmakers diversity gives you a get out of jail free card if you are the right color no matter what the crime.

But having a group like a “Black Caucus” is not racist?

Of course it is, but it's the "good and essential" form of racism. On the other hand, your comment pointing out the dichotomy is of the "bad and unacceptable" form of racism.

Now I get it. Anything blatantly racist done by Democrats is not racism while a conservative even uttering the words; Chicago, food stamps, golf or opposing the tyranny of Barack Obama is racist.

I say that he should go through the diversity and sensitivity training and then hold a press conference and state something of this sort. “Because I had the audacity to actually exercise my First Amendment Rights and say that I do not car a rats ass about the black caucus, I was required to attend these worthless Marxist derived PC training courses. I have completed them and I still DO NOT GIVE A RATS ASS about the black caucus.”
