Crikey. I remember the day when every school had a indoor shooting range in the basement.....and once a week *boys* were allowed to bring their .22 long rifles to school for practice/matches. Now, if you even make a *finger=gun*.....you’re expelled.

For most of three year in High School i was the Brigade Armorer.

I had 40 M1 Garands, about 30 22LTs Mostly Winchester 52Cs and a few Remington 516Ts. Also any thing that came into schools had to stored in the Arms Room. Among the various items I was responsible for were an SKS, a Browning BAR, an M1A1 Thompson and various civilian firearms.

And the rifle range was underneath the Visitors Bleachers, 10 lanes IIRC, 5 on each side.

Our school was usually the St. Louis league champ.
