More fear mongering.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Rep. John Lewis urged California delegates today to take their campaign message outside their home state to help send President Barack Obama back to the White House this November.
“You know when to get involved. We need you,” the Georgia Democrat said at a breakfast at the Blake Hotel housing the California delegation. “California’s going to be all right. But we need you to travel to other parts of America and re-elect Barack Obama.”
The civil rights leader shared stories of his activism and experience fighting for equality in the 1960s. He said Democrats now have a “fight on our hands” to ensure justice and freedom for Americans, including same-sex couples who want to marry, for years to come.
“Keep standing up, sticking up and sticking out and get involved and create a nonviolent revolution here in America,” he said.
Lewis’ remarks fired up the crowd of several hundred delegates filling the hotel ballroom for the 8:30 a.m. breakfast.
“Rep John Lewis just spoke about the right to vote & the hope for equality – my eyes are filled with tears,” Los Angeles County Democratic Party Chairman Eric Bauman tweeted after the speech.
What he means by "non-violent revolution" is probably "transformative change" under Obama to a leftist dictatorship, with the burning, looting, and assault preferably not necessary. That "revolotion" would be accomplished by leftist control of all branches of the federal government and the bureaucracy supporting it.
In the 1960s, there were certainly some respectable civil rights leaders whose goals were more modest and who unequivocally denounced violence. But there were others like Bobby Seale and Stokely Carmichael and Eldridge Cleaver who had no qualms about igniting a military revolution along the lines of the Castro revolution in Cuba.
“to ensure justice and freedom for Americans, including same-sex couples who want to marry, for years to come.
Keep standing up, sticking up and sticking out and get involved and create a nonviolent revolution here in America, he said.”
Stand up, stick up, stick out, and keep vasseline handy.
You mean, the Dems have a code book, too? Will Chris Matthews show us a photograph of it?
"You don't want to follow John Lewis giving a speech," California Democratic Party Chairman John Burton joked as he introduced the next speaker.Truer words were never spoken!
Anywho, I *think* I read the entire article but I must have missed the part were Lewis said,
"The Tea Baggers SPIT ON ME again!"
(I wonder when it was the last time he told the actual truth.)
To be characterized a racist by the likes of John Lewis is a compliment of the highest order because it means all their rational ideas, if any, have been exhausted and name calling remains their last defense.
