Historian Tom Holland has claimed that Koran makes little or no reference to religious city of Mecca.
London : A British channel has come under fire over a programme it broadcast on the history of Islam.
The programme, Islam: The Untold Story, broadcast on Channel 4, triggered nearly 550 complaints to both the television regulator Ofcom and the channels presenter Tom Holland.
According to the Daily Mail, Holland has been accused of distorting the history of Islam by claiming the Koran makes little or no reference to the religious city of Mecca.
He has also been subjected to a number of abusive tweets, which include physical threats.
One Twitter user accused him of trying to destroy Islamic history, while another tweet called him a fool for suggesting Islam is a made-up religion.
The Islamic Education and Research Academy has published a long paper denouncing the programme, but historians have rallied to Hollands defence, the report said.
Dan Snow, who has presented history shows for the BBC with his father Peter, described the programme as a triumph, tweeting: Dear angry, mad people it is conceivable that you know more than the worlds leading scholars, but very unlikely.
According to the report, the Academy claims the programmes assertion that there are no historical records detailing the life and teachings of the Prophet Muhammad is flawed.
Holland appears to have turned a blind eye to rich Islamic historical tradition, the Academy said.
Ofcom, which has received 150 complaints about the programmes alleged bias, inaccuracy and offence caused to Muslims, is considering an investigation into the show, the report said.
What doesn’t spark outrage among Muslims.
GOOD!
When can we get it to play on this side of the pond?
Who could be outraged by a nut who sat in a cave, went into trances and shouted out passages (written down by his followers) that became the basis of the koran.
And who could be outraged that the same nut using his same nutty koran went on to become a mass murder, a genocidal maniac, a child rapist and a grand slave owner/trader?
Who would have thunk it?
Bwahahahahahaha, that's a good one.
Sounds like those old politically incorrect Polish jokes; i.e. "What is the shortest book ever written?" "Poland's Rich Historical Tradition." *
*(Not my actual belief. Just sayin.')
To Muslims don't be rude
Living in dhimmitude,
No offense bring.
Gospel preaching is "hate"
Christian faith second rate
The goal of servile state:
Alllah is King.
For kiddies farm set play
We take the pigs away
(They are unclean)
Never make Muzzies mad
They might declare Jihad
And though it makes children sad
Pigs are unseen.
When Ramadan draws near
We forsake ale and beer
(Cant give offense)
School children cant eat lunch
Cant even candies crunch
Lest Moslems panties bunch
Dhimmis nonsense.
Dont ignite a Koran
Cant even burqas ban
They might protest
Shar-i-as here to stay
Amputate, stone away
Beheadings on Friday
Thus falls the West.
History books made clean
Holocaust never seen
Must teach a lie.
Seperate but equal?
Not in a British school
What is this new found rule?
All truth must die.
It seems mecaa is mentioned twice in the Koran, where as Jerusalem is mentioned 767 times in the Bible. In the Koran Jerusalem is mentioned 0 times.
Anything ever spark peace and calm among muslims?
Didn’t think so.
“another tweet called him a fool for suggesting Islam is a made-up religion.”
Well, I don’t know about being a fool but he is a little goofy: Islam is not a religion and to try and group it in there is dishonest and an insult to actual religions.
The fact that it was broadcast on a major UK network at prime time kind of proves your lyrics wrong.
Will be interesting to see if a major US network will show it in a prime slot. I won’t hold my breath.
Each verse refers to an act of capitulation to Muslim objections to something or other in the UK during the last couple of year. The most recent (last verse) was that in some UK high school Muslim students were being taught 20th century history without any reference to the holocaust....posted here less than a month ago.
Holland is an excellent historian who writes for the general public. I have read three of his books: Persian Fire, Rubicon, and Forge of Christendom.
And the story wasnt true, and ‘happened’ in 2007.
