(CNSNews.com) – Asked by Parade magazine, "What do you hope to accomplish in your second term?” First Lady Michelle Obama said she wants to "impact the nature of food in grocery stores" with the aim of cutting sugar, fat and salt.
“With 'Lets Move!,' our goal is to end the problem of childhood obesity in a generation,” Mrs. Obama said. “And while we’ve seen some very profound cultural shifts, we still have communities that don’t have access to affordable and healthy foods. We still need to find a way to impact the nature of food in grocery stores, in terms of sugar, fat, and salt.”
Mrs. Obama also discussed the challenge of “educating families” on healthy lifestyles in a society where “TV is rampant.”
“[W]e need to keep educating families about how to structure a life that is healthy in a society where TV is rampant and communities don’t have enough resources in terms of sports and activities,” she said.
As CNSNews.com previously reported, Mrs. Obama’s “Lets Move!” campaign has published an online guide called “Supermarket Shopping 101” that provides tips for shoppers on the importance of making a list and how to navigate a grocery store.
“Steer clear of the cookie, snack and soda aisle until after you’ve collected everything on your list--at that point, your cart should be full, which might make you feel less tempted to buy things you don’t need,” the guide states.

I just can’t see why people take her seriously. I mean she is definitely at least 15 pounds overweight. If Jill biden or Laura Bush was coordinating this, it would be much more believable that they are serious.

I find the entire question, “What do you hope to accomplish in your second term?” offensive. She is not an elected official. She doesn’t have a second term or even a first term. Her husband is a public employee who is about to be fired from his job. The public should not be paying for her 24 assistants, or her vacations. FUMO

Maybe she can standardize all grocery stores for us! We could be allotted a certain number of items from each row. More items permitted from vegetable and fruit rows and (of course) only one item from the soda isle. At check out as each item was scanned for price, it would also tally your row totals to make sure you didn't go over!
And if you did go over you would be required to pay a tax.. or fine... whichever term Justice Roberts deems more constitutional.

Aisle’s aren’t wide enough.
We need training to know how to shop in a grocery store. Maybe we can have a class and be issued a special permit. People without permits will be subject to a background check and a three day waiting period. Maybe we can limit the total number of calories that can be purchased in a given time period. There’s no reason why we can’t enact some common sense food rules. (Sarc)

Okay, this is a full-fledged rant. So feel free to skip it if you want. I was a Democrat. I was a fourth generation Democrat. I was a union member. My father was a union member. My grandfather was a union member. My great-grandfather was a union member. That was back in the days when unions stood for their workers and not for lining their own pockets.
I am a veteran. Don’t talk to me about patriotism, I have lived it.
I am a single parent, don’t talk to me about birth control or abortion, I have lived those choices. It offends me for women to stand up dressed like giant vaginas as if that is the totality of our life experiences. It should be offensive to minorities to have rich White women tell them that they have a right to free matricide.
It offends me for self-hating, Israel-hating Jews to stand up and protest against Israel in favor of the Palestinians. There are no Palestinians; they are Jordanians who have been refused entry back into their own country. It is the Arabs who have caused them to be refugees, not the Israelis.
Democrats lost their way a long time ago.
But when they have gone so far as to insert the name of a political candidate into Biblical text – they have completely lost their minds. I don’t care what your religious preference – it should offend you too. Democrats are selling merchandise at their convention that says: Obama 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave us Barack Obama”. THAT IS INSANE.
There are studies showing skinny people are sicker and die earlier than so called obese people. Agenda driven science has invented the perfect weight so fascists can control your life.

She has already messed up school lunches.... why not tackle groceries now?
I have a friend whose sister is a cook at a high school. They were given new directives by the government about school lunches. First thing to go was the salad bar. The second thing to go was the potato bar. Now the kids can have a pre made salad.... but with only 1 (count them.... one) added vegetable. You can have lettuce with carrots, or lettuce with tomatoes, but not lettuce with carrots AND tomatoes. You may not have cheese added to it at all.
They are also no longer allowed to use salt or pepper. They have government approved and issued spices, but they had not arrived yet, so they had naked nasty vegetable for the first weeks of school.
Of course, the kids are taking their lunches, including the lettuce and ONE veggie, and dumping them in the trash, right outside the serving line. They won’t eat it.
I also noticed the meals were not really all that healthy and included white rice, pizza dough and pasta, tinned products and only three meat/fish protein items (a whole chicken, a small salmon filet and chicken sausage). The vegetables were green beans and corn which don't have much nutritional value.
Conclusion: Fail

Maybe she should talk to the “flash mobs” and teach them to only steal veggies and fruit drinks instead of chips and soda...

I doubt it.
Purina probably delivers straight to the WH. Probably even provides the trough.
Lately, in NC, Groceries for our family of 4 are around $100/week, plus or minus a little.
And that includes *all* meals, that are healthy as well... And stuff like dish detergent, TP, and toothpaste.
But then again, we shop the sales carefully, use coupons, etc etc etc. Where we used to eat steak and seafood fairly often, we're now eating pork chops and hamburgers. I take leftovers for lunch, instead of eating out (or eating "new"). We're still doing fine, but Obama's war on America has hit my family right in the pocketbook.
Michelle Obama can go fish. That pair of grifters won't be out of office soon enough.
California is off the charts. We rarely have any meat at all anymore. I would love to be able to afford some pork chops. If it’s God’s will, we are leaving this state in two months and heading for the hills — Hill Country in West Texas. We are on a scouting trip next week! I am third generation born in CA and I have to migrate to another state in order to afford food and shelter. A sad day indeed.
In Obama's book he made a claim something to the effect a cruise ship waste more food in 1 day than a Haitian sees in their life.
Food rationing for Americans so the rest of the world can have food is exactly where this is headed.

Scenery was gorgeous, that entire area was a great place to visit, but I'd not want to live there. If anything, I got tired of tripping over the homeless, and getting panhandled every time I turned around.
For obvious reasons, I didn't shop for an entire family while I was there, but I did hit the grocery stores fairly often. I don't remember the prices being ridiculously out of bounds. Things must have skidded fairly rapidly in the past few years.
Sad. CA has an abundance of resources and could be incredibly successful, if those in power would allow it to happen.
Believe it or not Michelle, there are thin people in this country that need that sugar and fat or will not make it.
She isn't elected! She doesn't get a 'term'! She has no constitutional role.

What the hell is wrong with us?
This mantra of “food deserts” and “access to healthy foods” is a load of BS. When I go to the farmers market on Saturday I never see black peple there. I see Hispanics and Hmongs but no blacks. And the market is near the downtown Green Bay area, within walking distance of the black area. In addition there are city buses availble which will take them within feet of the market.
