Some outlets report any .22 caliber weapon regardless of cartridge as a ".22". The weapon could be anything from a Chipmunk to a Bushmaster.

Sounds like it was a .22 rimfire. Aimed for the heart; hit the heart. I'm not gonna argue with his choice of weapon. Normally I would, but not in this case!
