EVEN if there is no voter fraud problem (which, it is clear to me, there is), shouldn’t the process of voting be safegaurded to at least the same degree as that of boarding a plane or cashing a check?

I remember all sorts of attacks (many actually valid) on the content of the Patriot Act, but not one cry of racism or burdens being placed on the poor or elderly by the drug-war requirement that government-issued photo-ID be shown to buy allergy and cold medications containing pseudephedrine.
