His co-owner, Manish Chandani, told AFP news agency they had never intended to glorify Hitler.
"I was not aware of Hitler being responsible for the killings of six million people before the shop's inauguration. This time I will choose a non-controversial name."
Mr Chandani says the shop's name was a tribute to his grandfather who was nicknamed Hitler because he was "very strict".

First of all you have hardly met an Indian. That's it. End of story.
You may have met a few Indians in US, however there are over 1.3 billion Indians in the world. The few that make it to US happen to be among the educated affluent class which isn't at all representative of all 1.3 billion Indians.
Thirdly being an Indian myself I have lived in India and met far more Indians of all hues then you ever will in your entire lifetime. I know what they think and believe. And I know first hand that your generalization is utter nonsense.

You are factually wrong. Most of my friends in graduate school were from India. I work with people born in India every day. Not one of them was unaware of the holocaust. Not one.
Really? And you have had in depth discussion on holocaust with every single Indian you studied or worked with to know that? Give us a damn break!
36% of Indian population is illiterate, the highest illiterate population anywhere in the world. Large population of Indian have not even head of the word holocaust.

There were dozens of genocides/mass murders that occurred around the world in the last century, some were FAR bigger then Jewish Holocaust.
Mao killed nearly 40 million Chinese and Nixon made him a cold war ally.
Leopold II of Belgium killed 8 million Africans and he mutilated children when they didn't meet the quota for rubber extraction.
