Rev. Jesse Jackson: No Guess When Son Will Return to Congress
ABC News ^ | September 4, 2012 | Julie Percha and Jonathan Karl

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has been absent from Congress for almost three months — and today, his father, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, said he could not even guess when his son might return to Capitol Hill.

“I don’t want to hazard a guess,” Jackson said in an interview on the ABC News/Yahoo Democratic National Convention live stream. “I mean, I’m a father in this, not — not medical adviser,” he said. “He must make that decision as to whether … he can continue to serve.”

When Jesse Jackson Jr. abruptly took a leave of absence from Congress in early June, staffers initially pointed to “exhaustion” as the reason for his sudden disappearance, but ABC News later learned he was being treated for bipolar disorder at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.

“We love him so much. We’re so caught off-guard by what happened to him, but he’s recovering, and we want him to take his time,” Jackson said. “He is slowly regaining, but he must prioritize his health and let nothing come before his health.”

Jackson said he visits his son at least once a week and sees improvement.

My little Boobie ain't coming out of that hatch until he finishes the basket he's weaving ... or until the government runs out of money ... whichever comes first!

Jesse's kind o'job. What is it, $178K/yr plus expenses plus this plus that plus the other?

I'll just be stayin' in the exhaustion ward till I'm feeling up to it. The rigors of my schedule on behalf of my con-STIT-you-ents may just be too much f'me. Yessir.

Come over here sugah. I'm feeling a little bit un-exhausted just at the moment. Mmmm-mm.

Only a corrupt democrat would hold on to power after being unable to serve a 2 year term. You serve at our pleasure sir. Please resign.

“You serve at our pleasure sir. Please resign.”

Yes, let’s replace him with a voting democrat congressman...

Jesse Jr is only playing sick for sympathy to save his corrupt a$$ from charges from the pay to be senator scandal in Illinois when obama resigned to become pResident.

The DA was close to an indictment and this stunt has shut it down for now.

If we had a speaker with cajones, and not Boehner, they’d start the removal process that they can with House rules.

Luckily for America Boehner is smart...he knows an non-voting democrat congressman is better than a voting one!

I've said it before. Jesse Jackson Jr. aspired to be MAYOR of Chicago. Not Senator of Illinois. As Mayor, he can become a millionaire MUCH easier, and nobody will blink an eye.

Best gig in politics.

With a father like Jesse his brain had to be half scrambled before he discovered the wonder of pharmaceuticals.

I have no sympathy for any of these looters.
