New York Times columnist David Brooks told PBS that his one “cavil” was that voters want to hear about jobs and the economy, not taxpayer-subsidized abortion on demand:

Her speech was just boilerplate political wifey crap. You realize how in the tank the media are for Obama when you read the over the top reviews for what was really just a very average speech. The bar is set very low for the O’s (and it always has been.)
Baal... no these people worship the “Lilith”, the ‘wife of Satan’ who feeds on the blood of innocents. This explains the “Lilith Fair” concert series and a lot of other things.
It is surreal. The glorification of abortion, the removal of every mention of God from the platform, the repudiation of Israel. It's like a right-wingers parody of the modern Democrat. Except it's real.
As I’ve been saying: Give the liberals what they want, good and hard.
Help extirpate them by making sure they don’t reproduce. Drive every liberal woman who is pregnant to an abortion mill with a smile upon one’s lips. Affirm her “choice.” Heck, offer to sterilize them for no additional fee.
In one generation, there will be no “abortion movement.” The liberal advocates will no longer be able to reproduce, the successive generation of liberals will have never been born and the debate will be all over but for the crying on their part.
They hope that the feelings will go away if abortion becomes more common, but in the end it turns out being a misery loves company thing.
That is the basis for the whole democrat platform.

I would say a good portion of these women are single, ugly and are also doubling up with free contraception and gay marriage, which of course makes abortion moot.

The pro-abortion “ladies” are an embarrassment to all women. They’re saying that women are no better than the simplest animal writhing in the throes of heat. They’re saying that women have no self respect, no ability to say, “no”, and are unable keep their knees together. They disgust me.
One thing that I have never seen is a poll on abortion broken down by sex. Who favors abortion more, men or women? The DemonRats call abortion a womens issue, but I believe that more women then men are pro life. In my own poll that I have taken over the years, I find more women are pro life then men.
I have found two types of men who are pro abortion: The first type favor abortion because they don't want their girlfriend having a baby. The second type of man doesn't really want an abortion, but has been told all his life that it is not his choice to make, so doesn't feel that he has a right to be pro life.
But, we will never know the truth, because polls broken down by sex would probably show more men favor abortion then women, thus taking abortion as a women's issue away from the dems.
I can’t remember where I saw this, but I distinctly remember a polling result hat showed the most stridently pro-choice demographic being college-aged males.

Not to mention — we are told all the time how “strong” they are. I am woman, hear me roar - until I’m faced with an unplanned pregnancy, and then I run for the nearst cowardly exit and kill my kid because I’m too CHICKENSH*t TO face up to my mistakes, take responsibility for them, and DEMAND that others around me do the same!!!
Abortion begets more abortion, in addition to more abuse of women and children that are living. Nothing better for a man than abortion as it allows him to skip out and smoke the choom instead of staying home and being a father to his kids.

I’m not sure what the poll is on life issues lately, but to base your campaign on it when so many people are out of work and there is so much debt is just disconnected from reality. To pigeon whole women as only caring about rape and free on demand abortion is insulting. Women want jobs and financial security for themselves and their families too.
