By Mr. Curmudgeon:

Occasionally, even the Obama media feels compelled to report the truth. "Democrats opened their convention in Charlotte, N.C., today with the vision of keeping President Obama in the White House, but they were hit with the news that a new poll found his popularity among women in a tailspin and the national debt has zoomed past $16 trillion," ABC News reported.

The bad Obama economy wages war on all Americans - which just happens to include women. The ABC News/Washington Post poll found the president's approval among the nation's fairer sex dropped by seven percent since last April. Women just aren't that into him, "free" contraception and abortions notwithstanding.

The president's scheduled acceptance speech this Thursday at Bank of America Stadium has also become something of an embarrassment. Having an illuminated bank logo above his head is problematic for the man who told Occupy Wall Street "You are the reason I ran for office." He might have some explaining to do where the mouth-breathing "99%" are concerned.

And a rumor floating around media circles says the Dems may change the venue to a more intimate setting due to lack of enthusiasm. It seems they are having trouble filling the B of A stadium's 73,000 seats and may move to the 22,000-seat Time Warner Cable Arena. It won't do to have row upon row of Empty Chairs mocking Obama so close to the new Clint Eastwood-inspired holiday that bears their name and vacant condition.

However, there are more compelling reasons for this lack of enthusiasm. As the stouthearted fellows at Breitbart.com noted, the Democratic Party has become more of a personality cult and less of a party. They may say they hold free contraception and abortion as political principles, but their main focus is keeping Barack Obama in power. Abortion and contraception are like the bread and gladiatorial blood-sport use by ancient Rome's imperial leaders to earn the love and loyalty of the common dolt.

According to Breitbart's Mike Flynn, the 2008 Democratic Party platform mentioned Obama once. In 2012, his name appears in the document more than 200 times. An important component of Roman imperial rule required the citizen to view the ruler as a living god.

"We need a government that stands up for the hopes, values, and interests of working people, and gives everyone willing to work hard the chance to make the most of their God-given potential."

That section is from the 2008 Democratic platform. The term "God-given" was struck from the 2012 version. There shall be no gods before the living, imperial god.

But this should give Republicans little solace. Although the latest polls show Mitt Romney with a slight lead over America's living god, the majority of Americans express little faith in either political party. Their slavish bipartisan devotion to imperial Progressivism taints them both.

And that takes us to the Tea Party. It was the hard work of the grassroots movement that proved pivotal in showing Americans that Obama was a shoddily constructed god of clay feet. It continues to root out the destructive remnants of imperial Progressivism from the GOP to restore its opposition-party credibility.

Obama recently admitted his leadership is "incomplete." American completeness is not to be found in one man or one party. It resides in our nation's founding principles of ordered liberty under the law. That God-given completeness predates Americas' two-party system, and as the Declaration of Independence implies, predates the foundations of the Earth.

"When the people fear the government, there is tyranny. When the government fears the people, there is liberty," said Thomas Jefferson.

It is God-given liberty, not leaders or political parties, which completes us.

Yes, the United States is in the crapper, but, hey, it’s Bush’s fault.

The left is big on the term “Sustainable” when it comes to energy usage, population control, and general consumption.

I throw it right back at them -
“how is the social security system ‘sustainable’ when you’re killing off, or simply not having, those who will be paying into it?”
“how is this level of spending and debt ‘sustainable’?”
“how is having half the population not paying income taxes ‘sustainable’?”
“how is having 1/3 of the population receiving a gov’t check ‘sustainable’?”
“how is having 55% of the population dependent on the gov’t for their income ‘sustainable’?”

The Dems are not worried. One of tonight's speakers "has two mothers", as Dems define those words, and they expect this to have a double appeal with female voters.
