“Transhumanism is a powerfully influential planetary ‘elite’ movement that believes man can begin a radical transfiguration of himself by merging his brain with technology with the long term goal of eventually transferring his ‘essence’ out of his decaying body and into a highly advanced robo-machine.”

Yeah, saw that on Star Trek

I am increasingly convinced that whatever the Mark of the Beast turns out to be, it will include a neural-digital interface, and it will be this that makes it impossible to repent of accepting it (no one will want to give up the full-body virtual reality) and causes damnation (no one will want to give up their sinful passions which are perpetually excited and repeatedly slaked by the device.) Not being able to buy and sell might be a result of the implementing legislation — anyone who doesn’t accept it will have to pay a confiscatory tax, so folks without the Mark won’t have any money to buy and sell — all perfectly Constitutional here in the US. (Thanks, Justice Roberts.)

Sorry folks, an RFID chip under the skin just doesn’t fit the prophecy in St. John’s Apocalypse, you can repent of getting it with a pen-knife and it doesn’t change the state of your soul.

I always have liked the quote below from William Gibson's, Count Zero about a transhuman:

"And, for an instant, she stared directly into those soft blue eyes and knew, with an instinctive mammalian certainty, that the exceedingly rich were no longer even remotely human."

(Which modernizes the line from F. Scott Fitzgerald, "Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me.")

Two points:

The mark is a “sign” of ownership - you are owned by the devil.

You can’t repent unless you are given the grace to repent.

I saw the title and immediately thought someone was stuck on a bus going to the DNC freak show.

Y’know, with all the vicious malware, virii, trojan horses, etc., on the web, who would want a computer merged with their brain? It is dangerous enough out their for your PC, why would you want to risk your personality?

What a great observation! “It is dangerous enough out their for your PC, why would you want to risk your personality?” Pride goes before a fall?

David Weber showed why in some of his books. In some of his SF universes, folks had molecular circuitry in their brains - and there were apps that could completely take over your brain through your molycircs!
In another book, Through Stuggle, The Stars, a character had a wireless connection to a computer interface in his brain. He turned it on to access a device, and a captor used this access to crack his encryption. Then they used the link to torture him. Pretty horrible actually. (Great book, too.)
If a future generation puts computer interfaces in their brains, they are going to expose themselves “diseases” beyond their imagination. And the cures might even be worse!
And I don’t even want to think about putting your personality on a computer. The very word “edit” would make you whimper...

Thanks for sharing this with me. Weber’s visionary writings sound more like sci-fi prophetic warnings rather than just fantasy. He has the ability to envision the terrible consequences of the transhumanist quest.

Amen to that. It’s all just a fancy way of saying Man has become so arrogant he denies the existence of God and forges his own path according making up his own rules as he goes along without regard to the truth that comes from His Word. Following this path leads straight to Hell.

Not really. Overall, he seemed to favor the things. You were something less that fully capable without them. John Lumpkin, author of Through Struggle, the Stars, seemed a bit less attached to the idea.

There is a reason someone coined the term, “educated fools” and this is but just one example.
