Barack Obama and Bill Clinton sealed their political alliance with a bow and a bear hug.
It didn't last long, but Obama and Clinton's center stage moment Wednesday showed signs of what was once unthinkable for the former rivals. The two presidents seem to actually like each other.
They certainly need each other. Obama turned to the popular former president who oversaw an economic resurgence and asked him to make the case for a second Obama term at a time of high unemployment. Clinton needed him to continue to be relevant in the party he once led, and perhaps help pave the way for a future Hillary Rodham Clinton candidacy.
The famously long-winded Clinton commanded the stage for about 50 minutes, while Obama watched backstage and waited.
It was well past 11 p.m. when Clinton wrapped up and the podium lowered into the floor. Obama sauntered on stage, waving to the crowd with a wide smile on his face.
Clinton turned to Obama and gave a deep bow. Obama pulled the former president into a full embrace. Then they put their arms around each other, walked to the center of the blue-carpeted stage and soaked in the thunderous applause from the crowd packed to the rafters in the Time Warner Cable Arena.

Obama's in his element, at any rate.
I think it’s the Bill Clinton version of Eastwooding.
I wonder how much the bow cost, per degree.
Mocking. Bill did what he had to for blacks to get out of Hillary’s way four years from now. A new black from nowhere can’t move up without Obama so a deal was cut for the ‘16 endorsement.
According the MSM, Bill Clinton is the star of this year's convention.
Bill Clinton is an impeached ex-President. He was impeached for his pergery which was an attempt to cover up sexual harassment. The Obama Democratic platform endorses the wholesale killing of innocent human life including grisly partial birth abortions, rejects Judea-Christian values and endorses marxist economic and political statism that historically caused monumental misery. A near majority of Americans is about to endorse this cabal with their votes. A culture that embraces decadence can never prosper.
They are politicians. They do what is necessary to remain in power.
Well played, Bill.
Powerful paragraph!!! Agree!!
what is with these morons and bowing?
I say the Toon was mocking him.
That’s my take - but smirking at the hoi polloi too, because it goes right over their heads.
That’s what I thought as well.
oh well in that case
Did O go out on the stage to get Clinton OFF the stage? Time for a “body-reading” expert.
I think clinton was about to hurl...
Brian Williams bows to Obama
Bill Clinton bows to Obama
Just getting into the bend over position.
Both are narcissists and both are sociopaths. Neither give a darn what the other one thinks about him. Both will smile in your face while stabbing you in the back...and last night, billy smiled as he stuck the blade in and twisted it.
Disgusting. The POTUS embracing a rapist.
It is just so sick, so unAmerican this bowing
That was pure Bill Clinton sabotage. Obama thinks he's being praised and that Bill is indicating Obama's bowing is cool. Bill is reminding the world that Obama bows and scrapes to tyrants.
Obama’s bowing. He was immersed in Indonesian culture for the first 10 years of his life. If you research, you will find that, in that culture, when being introduced to a distinguished persom who is your senior in years, it is customary to bow. That’s all it is.
There's no lie so transparent and obvious that the press doesn't buy it. Maybe Obama can carry Clinton's bags...
There's no lie so transparent and obvious that the press doesn't buy it (when it comes from a democrat). Maybe Obama can carry Clinton's bags...
Americans bow to no one.
