First Lady Michelle Obama took over primetime last night at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC, but a lot fewer people were watching than back in 2008. Like they had for the GOP convention last week in Tampa, ABC, NBC and CBS all broadcast an hour of the convention live, and they all had double-digit drops from the comparative night of the DNC on August 26, 2008.
With Obamas speech the big ticket on Day 1, it was NBC that won the night as it did last week at the RNC. The network earned a 1.3/4 rating, down 24% from 2008. ABC had a 0.7/2, down 36% from four years ago. And with a 0.6/2, CBS took the biggest hit, with its coverage down 45% from the comparative night in 2008. In terms of total viewers for the hour, it was a lot like Tuesday at the RNC: NBCs coverage last night drew 5.33 millon total viewers, CBS 3.22 million and ABC 2.59 million. Based on fast affiliates estimates not being time-zone adjusted, the numbers for the networks live coverage are likely to change later today.

I’d like to know how many viewers changed the channel as the speech rambled on.
I didn’t watch it. I ate some good fajitas last night and didn’t want to throw up.
People Who Live in Glass Houses Shouldn't Throw Stones.....
ROTFLMAO!
Schadenfreude pings
Not much realizing going on.. They’re targeting females because they know if they can get the sexual charm thing going on, reason goes out the window. This worked for 0bama in 2008 and for Clinton last night. One lie after another but that didn’t matter. Disgusting.
As I suspected, the football game kicked butt. (Just like the Cowboys kicked the Giants’ butt, too!) Too bad the craven NFL kow-towed to the One by moving the game from Thursday to Wednesday. Nobody would have watched his “I love me” speech tonight.
On another note, both conventions had smaller audiences than 2008. What that tells me is that the vast majority of the electorate has already decided how they are going to vote, and that decision is pretty firm. The “Great Uniter,” Brak Hussien Zero, has left us a very sharply divided country.
Anybody know how many people overall watched the DNC compared to the RNC each night?
I always hated it as a kid in the Three Channel Universe when the conventions rolled around and you had absolutely no alternatives. Best summer I remember was a lake cottage rental that was close enough to the border to pick up Canadian TV. Was not forced to sit through the conventions that year.
LOL. I remember the conventions on black and white TV and remember I hated democrats.
I refused to watch any of the DNC convention on the grounds that I want to keep my sanity. Besides, watching anything pertaining to the democrat party is grounds for excommunication via God himself.

Probably less last night: Cowboys-Giants.
Cheer up. there is a collage game tonight, plus Project Runway and plenty of food network reruns. Lots to watch instead of the DNC and Mr. Present.
College game, huh? Instead of the “I love me” speech, I would rather watch a replay of the 1998 game between Panhandle A & M vs. Wassamatta U.

Oh you already know the answer...the networks will say that America has turned “racist”.
“Probably less last night: Cowboys-Giants.”
