As a territory, Puerto Ricans pay no Federal income taxes, but they are eligible for all federal entitlement programs.
Many came here to the continental US and many settled in New York, but maintain their separateness, apparently unwilling to assimilate into the melting pot. Not unlike many other immigrant groups, but the others descendants did after a generation.
