I do not see how it can benefit any candidate to say “hey we can’t win your state so good bye, we wont even try”

Because Pennsylvania in particular, is dominated by Philly and Pittsburgh and the rest of the state, while conservative, is out of luck.

I left that horrible state earlier this year.

I am sure you are correct.
Wouldn’t it be a better strategy just to pull back on the ads and not announce in advance you are a failure in the state?
