Wayne Root defects from LP to GOP (Endorses Romney)
examiner ^

Posted on 09/07/2012 7:08:05 AM PDT by Perdogg

On Thursday, 2008 Libertarian vice-presidential nominee Wayne Allyn Root announced that he was resigning from his positions within the Libertarian Party and joining the Republican Party. In the public letter he wrote, Root explains that his decision is much like those of previous Libertarian Party candidates, including David Koch (VP, 1980) and Ron Paul (President, 1988); both of whom left the LP to become influential Republicans.

>>Why are some Libertarians supporting Mitt Romney? Mitt isn’t a “small government conservative”!<<

Possibly because either Romney or Obama will be the President for the next four years and Obama is a big government socialist/Marxist, sort of the opposite of what Libertarians stand for?

Gary Johnson is an interesting candidate and would make a far better President than Obama, but voting for him now just helps Obama win. Elections are about choices, and we don’t always get our personally preferred candidate onto the final ballot.

I tried telling some people here that 4 years ago and I was accused of trying to scare people into voting for McCain.

Your post certainly made me think. But I think that doing small damage over and over does not solve the long term problems. It would be smarter raise the foundation and install storm shutters. This Country needs to change direction, not just go down the same road slower.

The road disappeared in 2008.

Yes, but you don’t start raising the foundation the day before the storm hits.

Well we certainly don’t want anyone to think about the dilemma we are in now. If Obama wins, [and I pray he does not} it will be because we ran another liberal candidate. If Romney wins so do the liberals. We have given the liberals a big win, smaller win situation. Yes God save us from those that think looking for solutions is twisted logic.

I agree but after the 2nd or 3rd storm and nothing is done it might be time to think about long term solutions. Kind of like having a roof that leaks. It can’t be fixed when it is raining and when it is not raining it is not leaking so why fix it.

Using your house analogy, more accurately IMHO:

Is it better, when there is some termite damage in the house, to take out the rotten timbers, replace with new wood, and apply Timbor to kill the remaining termites?

Or burn it to the ground, bulldoze the smoking ruin aside, and hope to build a better one after?

Any rational person sees that the first choice is the rational choice. Fire may not stop with the house, the trees may catch, all the landscaping, maybe even the garage, and precious belongings will burn, along with the still useful parts of the house. You’ll be homeless for a long time, too.

Use your brain.

So the long term solution is to get the rotten commie/muzzie/racist/illegal/faggot out of the WH and then vote in Constitutional respecting conservatives to every office possible - House, Senate and State governments. And try for an actual conservative next election, which will probably work very well.

Well I guess there is no problem we already have a severely conservative candidate.

Okay, all diseases are bad.

Would you rather have the flu or cholera?

A cold or cancer?

Tachycardia or a heart attack?

How old are you?

I never suggested burning the house down. Using your termite example, no preventative or repairs will be done as long as the homeowner refuses to believe there is a problem. After all they are small, they only do a little damage, you can still live in the house with them that is till the roof falls in.

I am old enough to have to apologize to my Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren for not leaving them the great Country I was privileged to grow up in. I take responsibility for not being able to change the liberal tide. I believe people will vote for what they think is best for the Country. I only suggest they do it with their eyes open. As to the other question I choose good health, I don’t accept that the only choices I have are what others give me
