Today's reported unemployment rate: 8.1%. The reason: the labor "participation" dropped to a 31 year low 63.5% as reported earlier.
Of course, this number is pure propaganda, and makes no sense for one simple reason: despite the economic collapse started in December 2007, the US civilian non-institutional population since then has grown by 186,000 people every month on average hitting an all time high of 243,566,000 in August.
These people need a job, and the traditional shorthand is that at least 100,000 jobs have the be generated every month for the unemployment rate to merely stay flat, let along improve. So what does one get when one uses the long-term average of the past 30 or so years which happens to be 65.8%? One gets an unemployment number that is 45% higher than the reported 8.1%, or 11.7%.
That is what the real unemployment rate is assuming the US labor participation rate was realistic and not manipulated by the BLS cronies and the Bank of Spain assisted Arima-X-13 seasonal adjustment models. It also means that, as the chart below shows, the spread between the real and propaganda data hit an all time record, which was to be expected two months ahead of America's banker muppet presidential election.
I wish someone would post the real inflation rate too. I know I’m paying at least 25%-35% more for groceries than I was 4 years ago.
Food and energy are not included in inflation rates...they are pushed aside...too expensive. Notice how much smaller most packages of food are even the Chocolate Chunk fresh cookies are smaller...I really notice things like that.
CNBC’s Santelli was predicting 7.9% unemployment report in October.
Meanwhile Greece’s unemploymentis 24%!!
I don’t care who is elected. Those in government have caused so much damage due to their reckless corrupt policies, we’re simply screwed.
Those that bought a single word from their convention productions, are just plain stooopid.
“Meanwhile Greeces unemployment is 24%!!”

I say, our unemployment figure is really close to Greece’s. No proof, but 8.2% or whatever the official rate is now can’t possibly be correct. We have major cities with double digit unemployment rates. So how can the official national percentage be so low?
The books are being cooked.
Look at the cereal boxes
Same height, but only 1/2 inch wide
most are only 8-9 oz per package vs 14 oz before
We are paying MORE for smaller packages, also.
A ‘pound of coffee’ hasn’t been a full pound in quite some time.
I don’t drink coffee, but I buy a can now & then & give it to the Sheriff’s office here in town. Not even a coffee drinker myself & I see the changes!!!!
“I really notice things like that.”
It is the Michelle Obama fitness plan, first tried out by the Khmer Rouge in 1975.
We had a Dollar General open nearby (we’d never had one of those around before); the first thing I noticed was how much smaller the packages were for all of the food we bought at Pathmark or Shop-Rite (and this was a few years ago). There is no price benefit - you simply pay less to buy less.

That is why the fictitious “war on women” and “negroes in chains” campaigns have to be waged; anyone purchasing groceries (with paychecks, food stamps, or welfare) can see their purchasing power diminish weekly. In the past the term “deficit” was something many people didn’t relate to; now they can see its impact, and they are frightened.
They should be.
It really doesn’t appear the Federal Gov’mt really has much to offer We the People in these United States if they can’t be relied upon to even count straight any longer.
