Canada's Conservative government said Friday it is shutting its embassy in Tehran and severing diplomatic relations with Iran, which Canada says is providing military assistance to Syria.

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said that the Canadian embassy in Tehran will close immediately and Iranian diplomats in Canada have been given five days to leave.

Baird, who serves in a government that is a staunch ally of Israel, said Iran is the most significant threat to global peace and security in the world today.

Little Mosque On The Prairie.

That new boy in town had been looking at me a lot. Father already threatened to kill me, so I guess it was serious. That night he went to attack the infidels, and I was alone in the house, when he showed up.

Let me be brief, he said. I work for Mossad. Would you like to become an agent and betray your family and the Prophet, and give yourself over totally to evil?

Of course, I said. Can we also have sex?

I’m sorry, he answered, but I am only attracted to goats and chickens.

Whatever, I answered. What can I do to betray the Ummah?

Normally, I would have at least demanded sex as payment for my crimes. But being a woman, I simply wanted to sabotage the Prophet’s good work, and would have to wait to be violated later. When father got home that night, everything was ready. I had already burned a Koran and disguised pig meat as goat meat to contaminate him, and sold all our land to evil Zionists.

All I meant to say is that at the time the US government was officially anti-Israel and pro-Arab, but in the hearts of the people, we never were.

It should be remembered that there is a reason many Democrat Jews vote the way they do. Many Jews, thought creating a state in the midst of Greater Arabia was foolhardy, creating animosity toward Jews where there need be none. Over time, I think most Jews alive today (in this country) support her, but they don’t necessarily carry her train.

I can say nothing about the military decision-making that went in to the attack on the Liberty because I don’t know.

You’re absolutely right... you guys, along with the Aussies, are always with us, you Canadian cousins of ours.

The Brits too. Americans too often don't realize that, like it or not, they are members of something called the Anglosphere.

This is a small, informal group of democratic nations that spring from a single language, a base of common law and the idea that people are smart enough to govern their own affairs. There are cultural differences, sometimes even disagreements, usually over trade. But in a real crisis, when one of us is threatened, we all stand together. The ties among us are simply binding.

Afghanistan is a perfect example. After the US, the rest of the combat was basically an Anglosphere operation.

A few years ago,on the anniversary of 9/11,your PM addressed a sitting of the Australian Parliament. In it,he ticked off all the things the two countries have in common, praised the close ties they have and pointed out that one of the noteworthy thing they have in common is that "we're both fast friends of...our other strategic cousin, the United States".

Pretty powerful,I'd say.

This is good news and also comes on the back of some older news where the film Iranium was prevented from being shown at some Canadian Universities due to pressure from the Iranian embassy in Canada. So the Iranian embassy in Canada has been active working against Canadian interests.

I have not been a fan lately of the high spending ways of the Federal conservatives, but this move is something that impresses me. Good for Harper.

You raise a good point. I wouldn't say US policy from post WWII was anti-Israel. It was simply pro-Arab. The US sides against France, Britain and Israel in the Suez Canal crisis. It also would not sell arms to Israel in fear of pissing off the Arabs, which is why Israel got its arms from the French.

Iran “routinely threatens the existence of Israel and engages in racist anti-Semitic rhetoric and incitement to genocide,” Baird said in a statement.

In that case, Harper should break off diplomatic relations with Washington. Obama threatens the existence of the Americans, the Jews and even the Canadians with the 174,000 guns American agencies have bought.

The activities of Iranian "diplomats" in Canada was, I'm sure, an important factor in this rupture of relations. They were probably running rat lines and spy networks into the US. They were absolutely spying on Iranian ex-pats and students in Canada.

They can do their dirty work from Cuba and Mexico now, good riddance.

Well, yeah. Americans don’t pay much attention to foreign affairs, because they don’t have to. When you are the biggest kid on the block, by orders of magnitude, you don’t pay much attention to what the other kids are doing, unless Pearl Harbor or 9/11 happens. Then you find out who your life long friends are.

This is nothing. They’re moving the embassy to Vancouver.

I notice the editorial board at Globe and Mail and National Post are criticizing the decision. The Iranians are calling Canadians neo-cons. I have to think that Ron Paul supporters would also be against this move.
