On Friday, the musical act R.E.M. sent a letter to the Fox News Channel insisting that it stop using its song Losing My Religion in its news coverage specifically this weeks Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C.
We have little or no respect for their puff adder brand of reportage. Our music does not belong there, lead singer Michael Stipe said in a statement.
Late Friday afternoon, Fox News returned the volley by arguing they were within their legal requirements and suggested it was a publicity stunt by R.E.M.....

I was a huge REM fan in high school (late ‘90s), but I never got to see them live until late in college, long after Bill Berry had left the band. My girlfriend (now my wife) got me tickets to a rare tour. Unfortunately, this was right around when Rush Limbaugh’s drug problem broke in the media, so Stipe couldn’t help but make some gleeful comment about Rush’s problems, but thankfully he kept that crap to a minimum and just played some of their classic stuff. At one point, Bill Berry actually came on stage and played drums, so we got to see the full, original REM play. It was a good time, overall.
Well, I have to agree entirely about Reagan. In fact it drives me nuts when lying homo activists and entertainers claim Reagan caused the spread of AIDs, because they know damn well it was their own reckless behavior. And I’ve heard John make other stupid comments concerning a variety of topics from time to time. I’m just pointing to the time I saw him, and he didn’t say anything remotely controversial or political.
Who are REM? Is that like the B-52s, some dead group from the 80s?
It's only going to get worse. I know.
