An alternative to Democrats' moral bankruptcy
Townhall.com ^ | September 8, 2012 | Star Parker

Maybe Democrats have some slick salesmen, like Bill Clinton and our current president, who can sell you swampland and have you convinced that you've bought choice beachfront property.

But the omission of any mention of God and recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital from the Democratic Party platform, which were in it in 2008, and then the almost-failed attempt to add them after the fact, showed the clear truth about the 2012 Democratic Party.

It took three boisterous floor votes to add these principles to the platform. Listening to the ayes and nays on the third vote, it is questionable that they actually got the two-thirds that were needed.

The omission of these key principles from the Democratic platform was the party equivalent of what journalist Michael Kinsley calls a political gaffe -- when a politician inadvertently says what he really believes.

Democratic Party operatives panicked when they realized that the platform, as initially drafted, showed today's Democrats exactly for who they are: the home base for the nihilism, radical moral relativism and welfare statism that define today's far left.

But the Democrats are the party of the entertainment industry. They know how to create fiction and appeal to fantasies.

So the party of the radical left brands Republicans as extremists.

The United States is still a religious nation.

According to a 2010 Gallup poll, 43 percent of Americans attend church regularly. However, just 39 percent of Democrats and 27 percent of liberals do.

The alignment of the culture of the Democratic Party with that of bankrupt European welfare states provides a powerful hint where they are taking this country.

In a Pew Research Center survey last year, 50 percent of Americans said religion is "very important," compared to 22 percent in Spain, 21 percent in Germany, 17 percent in Great Britain and 13 percent in France.

Of the 50 percent of Americans who said religion is very important, 67 percent were conservative and 29 percent liberal.

Regarding Israel, in a Gallup poll done this year, 61 percent of all Americans -- 78 percent of Republicans and 56 percent of Democrats -- said their sympathies lie with the Israelis rather than the Palestinians.

Back in 1965, when President Lyndon Johnson signed Medicare and Medicaid into law, 30 percent of federal spending consisted of payments to individuals. Today it's almost 70 percent.

In 1965, 24 percent of black babies and 3 percent of white babies were born to unwed mothers. Today 73 percent of black babies and 29 percent of white babies are born out of wedlock. More than half of births today to women under 30 are outside of marriage.

Unfunded liabilities of Medicare, plus those of Social Security, are $63 trillion, according to their trustees' latest report. But underlying the fiscal bankruptcy is a moral bankruptcy.

But you wouldn't know it, listening to La-La Land Democratic liberals.

Not only are we killing the goose that lays the eggs, but with 50 percent of Americans now living in a household getting government benefits, we're losing perspective that you even need a goose to get eggs.

God-fearing, family- and church-centered American values created the American prosperity that opened the door to entitlement programs.

Now Democrats brand those traditional American values as cruel and "on your own."

If you think debt, government dependence, broken families and moral relativism form the path to a strong and prosperous America, sign on with the Democrats.

But Republicans need to do a better job embracing and articulating the alternative.

Republicans need to step up to the plate and start talking about our nation's real crisis -- our moral crisis. The nation's searching middle class will understand the truth when they hear it.

But they need to hear it.

It is amazing that the Democrat party chose 2012 to show how detestable they are.

The charismatic Debbie Wasserman Shultz and her parade of lies. Unprecedented. I can’t think of a previous party chairman who was so repulsive.

The God/Jerusalem rage at the convention with far more delegates shouting “no” than “yes” was the mask slipping all the way off. Then it closes with no new plans to get us back into jobs.

Now the polls are showing Obama got all the bounce of a dead cat.

The Democrats now roll out big time with a detestable media onslaught of name callining, mendacity, outright lies, and demoralization of the American public.

Detestable. Detestable. I just can’t say it enough.

I suspect there is a lot of soul searching going on in about half of the delegation. I’m sure that some are reflecting on the three times rejecting God and Jerusalem parallel to Matthew 26:34. While in the belly of the beast the association may not have come to mind, but now that they are back home to reality, it is something they will not be able to hide from.

I know from a recent personal experience as it relates to my brother. He voted straight Democrat party line for over 30 years. He is/was a shop steward, or some high level union position, in a major GE factory in Ohio. We have not spoken for years because of his blind loyalty to the union way. He even traveled to big union conferences in DC as late as less than a year ago.

I happened to see some kind of “Like” ad on Facebook for something about “I will not vote for Obama in 2012” and the people I have links to were pictured. I was left in a state of shock when I saw his name and picture. I clicked on his page and I was floored to see his only political like was Allen West.

Something huge is in the making, I have felt it for months and it is now overpowering my Spidey Senses.

The United States is still a religious nation.

True; but the percentage that is CHRISTIAN is slipping fast!

And even THOSE folks really do NOT know much about what Christianity is all about!

John 6:28-29 (niv)

Then they asked him, “What must we do to do the works God requires?”

Jesus answered, “The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.”

1 John 3:21-24

Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.  And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.  The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

The passing of the Dark Ages brought an end to era when a minister, bishop or priest had the monopoly on interpretation. Even at that, this is not a case of interpretation but of analogy. One of the most powerful aspects of the teachings of the Bible is that it is to be used as a guide for living a Godly life and to apply to all circumstances and awareness when one looks for guidance in his or her daily life.

This is true.

The Democrats really do believe that you can create prosperity out of whole cloth.

They think that the Fed can just create new money and the economy will just roar back from the pit of disaster that they have forced it in to because suddenly there is all of this worthless money laying around. This is the Democrats business plan.

They think that new industries will be started by people who will just magically wade through the thousands of pages of regulations that the governments sets up like hurdles an Olympic race. Building higher and higher hurdles will produce record times. This is the Democrats strategy.

They think that some how more and more people can consume the fruits of industry while producing nothing themselves will grow the economy. Sipping more and more from a glass while adding nothing will somehow produce a full glass. This is the Democrats philosophy.

The Democrats are like medieval doctors trying to cure the sick goose of the ledgendary golden eggs. They apply leaches to bleed out the bad humors while all the while making the patient weaker.

The Democrats simply can not escape their failed economic philosophy because in it is their roots of their social philosophy of take wealth from the producers (the rich) and redistribute the wealth to the non-producers (the poor). Unfortunately this philosophy has in it skewed incentives of punishing those who produce wealth and rewarding those who do not. Such a system is doomed to failure simply because of the simple truth of economics which states that you get more of that which you pay for. Pay for non-production and you get more non-producers.

These skewed incentives is why since the advent of Johnson’s war on poverty has with only one exception that I know of has the number of welfare recipients fallen. I am sure we all know that is when after the election of 1994 that a Republican congress forced welfare reform on President Clinton

The skewed incentives set up by the Obama administration to discourage new industry and to encourage growth of the welfare rolls is a recipe for exactly what is happening there are no new jobs and there are many new members of the welfare class.

Good catch; I would’ve missed that gem. And I would not have wanted to,

The Democrats are the party of the entertainment industry - and the entertainment industry includes journalism.

If you seriously reflect on the rules which journalism sometimes claims define objectivity, you see that “If it bleeds, it leads,” “‘Man Bites Dog’, not ‘Dog Bites Man’,” and “Always meet your deadline” obviously have nothing to do with "the public interest," and everything to do with interesting the public. Entertainment. Journalism’s claims of objectivity and public spiritedness promote journalism’s interest, and flatter the reader - while journalism delivers only titillation and appeals to least-common-denominator intelligence.

It is often suggested that journalism is in the pocket of the Democratic Party, but there is no need to make that assumption. It makes logical sense to turn that around and suggest that the Democratic Party is in the pocket of journalism. Of course, that would imply that journalism has a single, “liberal,” voice. And democracy is pretty much predicated on a free press as well as free speech. And before the Civil War era, that was the case - but
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. It is impossible indeed to prevent such meetings, by any law which either could be executed, or would be consistent with liberty and justice. But though the law cannot hinder people of the same trade from sometimes assembling together, it ought to do nothing to facilitate such assemblies; much less to render them necessary. - Wealth of Nations, Book I, Ch 10
since the middle of the Nineteenth Century there has been an organization which has systematically unified journalism via a continuous virtual meeting over the telegraph lines. It is called, appropriately enough, the Associated Press. We have always had a free press, but an independent press has not existed in the memory of living man. The Associated Press defaults to the perspective which flatters journalism - and politicians who go along and get along with journalism.

Sin is confusion.

The USA is drowning in it.

Repent! Stop sinning. Believe God. I say this as much to myself as any of you.
