One other point that is related... If you go on SS disability at 62 you get the FULL payment of SS. Once you turn 66, you go off disability and on regular SS, but at the full rate as if you retired at 66.
I went on SS when I turned 62 but not on disability. Then when I turned 65 I went on full SS and Medicare
Not too comforting to know when I can (legitimately) go on SSD in four years, the system will be busted...
Not that it’s necessarily the target — work provides that sense of purpose & accomplishment I’d probably miss, and the 401-K will be there (unless the Feds screw with that).
