This afternoon I was on my lawn mower listening to Mark Belling (local conservative talk show host who sometimes subs for Rush). He was recounting an interview he had had with Rep Jim Sensenbrenner that occurred when I was out of town. Sensenbrenner predicts a Romney/Ryan victory in Wisconsin, despite the fact that the Dems have carried the last 6 Presidential elections in Wisconsin, although 2 of those were VERY close.
Sensenbrenner says that Wisconsinites are proud people, and they are pleased as punch with Ryan’s nomination. This is the first time in history that a candidate for President, or VP, has been nominated by a major party from Wisconsin. They are proud that Ryan has been dubbed the intellectual leader of the GOP. Plus, they are energized by the recent failed attempt to recall Walker; and they are heartened by Walker’s fiscal turn-around for the State.
Wisconsin also is a state that is pretty evenly split with control of the legislature going back and forth frequently.
The downside is that in some ways Walker made it look too easy, but Sensenbrenner still predicts a win. I hope he’s right.
See #42.
Yeah, this GRJR poster reminds me of Willie Green posting about light rail in every thread. You almost do wonder if he’s a DU sleeper poster or our own Toyko Rose along with Tsowell and those other 5 or 10 posters.
I live in Wisconsin. 18 months ago we had 50,000 lefties march around and occupy our Capitol building. We had Dan Rather, Susan Sarandon, Jesse Jackson and Ed Schultz camping out here telling us resistance was futile. We had pollsters from the major newspapers running around telling us that Scott Walker’s approval rating was in the 30’s only two months into his first term.
Yet somehow we beat back all of it. And Walker won his recall by a LARGER margin than his initial election.
We are organized and motivated in this state for Romney and Ryan. We will bring them home.
Excellent!!!
GOOD and isn’t Scott Walker also on the November ballot?
I also think that the working, tax-paying Wisconsinites are proud of Paul Ryan, including the better angels in some of the unions.
No, Scott Walker is secure in fulfilling the remainder of his 4 year term after winning his recall. He has 2 1/2 years to go.
Empty dead chair alert!!!
OKay!!!
I can see it the other way. Obama winning the Electoral College (due to spoliers in VA and NM) but Romney winning the popular vote getting close but losing (less than McCain did) in the northeast and the west coast.
We have a cabin in northern WI. I noticed this past summer as we traveled north through WI, that up near Madison there were lots of anti-Walker signs left over from the failed recall. I even saw a bumper sticker that said “Scott Walker, Koch Whore”. But north of Madison it was all pro-Walker signs.
