MILWAUKEE (AP) Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says he plans to create 240,000 jobs in Wisconsin if elected.
He's airing a new commercial statewide starting Sunday. It's the first his campaign has paid for in Wisconsin.
In the ad, he says Wisconsin isn't better off today under Democratic President Obama....

If nothing else, this'll make Obama spend money in Wisconsin that he could've used in Florida or Iowa.

If the last couple years are any indication, Wisconsin SHOULD be solid RED this year..
Of course, it all depends on the level of VOTE FRAUD in Madison and Milwaukee.

Mitt Romney says he plans to create 240,000 jobs in Wisconsin if elected. Is it asking too much for Republican politicians to disavow the statist conceit that politicans create private sector jobs?
To: 2ndDivisionVet
Obama will promise 241,000 jobs, and he will win.

Problem with Romney is he is not an ideologue conservative. He is a Christian businessman / politician who wants to win elections.

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney says he plans to create 240,000 jobs in Wisconsin if elected.First of all, government does not create jobs. Second, why 240,000? He doesn't control that, private companies will decide how many they will hire.

Is he trying to ride on Governor Scott Walker's coat tails? This is old news, rehashed. "
Scott Walker Unveils Plan to Bring 250,000 Jobs and 10,000 New Businesses to Wisconsin by 2015." That article was from February 2010. The state has added about 22,000 private sector jobs since then. And acquiring those jobs has been an uphill battle for our Governor. Romney walking into Milwaukee with a promise to bring another 240,000 jobs is not going to play well for him here. For those who live here and know what a battle the last two years have been just to stay Walker's course, this promise falls flat. He might as well have promised 500,000 new jobs. It would be just as believable. And, all that aside, it's just not the President's job to pick winners and send jobs to one state or another at his discretion. Just stay out of it.

If he thinks he could foster an environment where their best estimates are 240,000 new jobs in four years, he should say that. Emphasis on getting government out of the way of business owners so the economy can start growing like wildfire and people can't hire fast enough.
Yes, an unfortunate choice of words at best.
At worst, he really believes government creates jobs.

Romney’s ads suck. Why doesn’t he just spend $20 mil on that excellent Obama promises 2008 vs. 2012 ad that the RNC produced?
To: 2ndDivisionVet
I have never understood why any candidate would give a solid number like this, it always comes back to bite them.

Quoting a certain number leaves the candidate open to charges of pandering and simply making numbers up. How much better it would be if Romney had mounted a devastating attack on Obama, directly linking Obama's policies to jobs lost. He could start with energy, continue with regulations, top it off with cronyism to unions (not a bad fit in Wisconsin) and and with squandered trillions of dollars.
He could tell the audience that this has occurred not because Obama does not get it, not that Obama is misguided, certainly not because Obama is a nice guy who just does not know economics, but because Obama is a committed radical leftist, an ideologue whose policies have never in any historical context produced a healthy economy.
Above all, Romney should tell the people what is at stake. It is more than moving the decile point up and down the scale of the monthly jobless report. It is that the country is hurtling toward a fiscal disaster which will produce real hardship, misery, and woe if Obama's policies are permitted to continue. This is the predicate upon which the entire attack against Obama should proceed. This explains why Obama must be fired.
The final proration should be to patriotism. It is patriotic to stop Obama and save the nation.
I see no evidence that Romney has the heart for any of this.
