Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign announced early Monday that it raised $111.6 million during the month of August, its single best month of the campaign and the third straight month it has raked in more than $100 million.

President Obama’s campaign has not announced its August fundraising totals yet, but he has been significantly outraised by Romney over the last two months.

Lehman filed for bankruptcy at 1:46 am on September 15. The markets opened that day in free fall. The crisis had arrived.

The difference is people like Obama, oddly enough.

[ Speaking of the media, FOX continually plays long sound bites of BO’s convention and campaign speeches while playing very short clips of Romney’s response. It’s making me mad. ]

Yep. It’s ticked me off too. I haven’t even been watching because of it.

If I trust romney to do one thing, it’s to run an effective negative ad campaign against Obama.

He does his due diligence.

He wants this thing.

And he has a track record.

Now, release the Kraken!

If it weren’t for politicians spending on advertising, the dinosaur media would already be extinct.

Don’t like some of the latest state polls. Glad he has a good warchest. He will need it.

Are you insinuating that the polls aren’t used to manipulate public opinion. It is one of the top tools used by the media.

Right now we see a convention bounce, but it is being reported as the end of the road for Romney. There are only a few polls I would consider even worth reviewing. They show a bounce. Rasmussen, who is showing a bounce and a higher approval rating is still showing a tie game among the swing states, with Obama sitting around 45-46%. I am comfortable with that at this stage. I would love to see an edge for the GOP but it is going to take a full campaign session to defeat an incumbent no matter what his record. I hope the R/R campaign has a good plan.

Oh I agree, the last 24 hours have been a very interesting media cycle. They are campaigning for Obama’s second term with all the polls making headlines, the report Obama raised more money than Romney. Even articles saying Romney’s internals are bad...yadda yadda yaddda.
It’s all designed to make Obama look like the energized winner we all knew a loved from four years ago, and make Romney look like a played out flop.
It got to me, I must admit.

Have you studied Romney’s M.O. during the primaries? He would carpet bomb the leading opponent 7-10 days before election day. Have you forgotten that Americans have a short memory span? Why waste money 2 moths before election??? Romney did not make $250 million by being inept.

Maybe the thought is to keep competitive but hold the really big guns until closer to the election in order to minimize the time the other side has to refute/respond....?

This is great news.
The fact however, is that the big O raised more cash than Mitt.

http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/ticket/obama-narrowly-outraises-romney-august-053212967—election.html

Given the fact that the economy is swirling the bowl & our foreign policy is non existent, this is not so good news, but the outlook is still promising.

Well, it would be nice to see the money used to point out REPEATEDLY AND OFTEN how Romney plans to improve the economy...as Mia Love pointed out, stay out of the weeks and keep drumming on the economy.

Educate yourselves.

Romney said he has a plan for healthcare which includes doing something about pre-existing conditions and length of time someone can be on another’s policy.

His words were carefully chosen. His and Ryan’s plan will not be identical to Obamacare but will address IN ITS OWN WAY those kind of issues. He actually said people would be able to CHOOSE about keeping another on their plan for how long. That tells me it wouldn’t be an automatic mandate to the insurance cos. but would be a choice that people would have to pay for.

Not repeal Obamacare? When pigs fly.

If you live in a dream world, maybe you thought there would never be anything proposed about healthcare, just repeal Obamacare and forget healthcare. But that was never going to be true.

As for the details of what the GOP will put forward IF it gets the Senate and Presidency, that will shake out when the proposals are made, and all of us can weigh in.

Meantime, don’t forget, Obama MUST GO.

I’ll use your standard. You do not know what I said 4 years ago about McCain?

The fact is that 60% are opposed to the health care law and this has not changed since it passed. Romney will win by the same margins as the health care law. this is a repeat of 1994.

More importantly Republican Super Pacs that will be burying Obama with negative ads as we get closer to October -November have outraised Dems Super Pacs 4 to 1 and have more money on hand than the Romney campaign and the RNC combined. With negative ads on the economy, this election will be returned to a referendum on Obama rather than
a choice between 2 candidates that the DNC convention was temporarily successful in turning it into. As much as folks might not like negative ads, it will be negative ads on the economy that will boost Romney.

Problem is, I'm a 6th-generation Californian. Deep roots.

I pray for sanity in congress (my congressman is Tom McClintock), a return to governance within conservative principles, and a supreme court to match. Then, and only then, will I have a prayer of forcing California to mend its ways.
