Detroit Area Police Officer Shot and Killed

The West Bloomfield Police Department is mourning the loss of one of their own this morning.
According to media reports, the West Bloomfield Police Officer was shot and killed early this morning. West Bloomfield is located about 40 minutes northwest of Detroit.
Authorities are at a home where a man has barricaded himself inside with a gun. There is a bomb squad there as well. This could be related to the shooting.

I don't know enough about the area to say what kind of area it is but the Detroit Free Press is saying that the officer was shot by whoever is barricaded inside the home.

Boy, I sure hope the police don’t shoot and kill the barricaded cop killer today. They would be sparking riots over not being sensitive.

West Bloomfield is anything but urban... very upper middle class/wealthy and too far from Detroit to be considered a suburb of Detroit.

I’m sure someone has already piped in, but for grins here you go....West Bloomfield is one of the wealtheir suburbs in SEMI, possibly the wealthiest. It is part of Oakland County (I think.)

Detroit Area does not equal Detroit. West Bloomfield has a lot of money.
This is a real sad case here. The cop is 39 with four kids and is by all accounts a real good guy. I know people that know him and they all thought real highly of him.

Sorry to hear that...I do admit, I see “Detroit area” and I think of the slums.
I still think Obamugabe has failed every area of the nation—but the people in the cities need to realize it and be anxious to fire his ass too.
